Green Map's director, Wendy Brawer, was returning to Cuba, 18 years after introducing it to local environmentalists. Today, over 1800 people are involved!   2. 2. 40 Green Mapmakers worked together for 3 days in a seaside hotel
  3. 3. These are the organizers, with Green Mapmakers from MX & US
  4. 4. 1863 participants are in the network, in 8 ‘nodes’
  5. 5. Training, exchange and movement building are key themes
  6. 6. Participants are passionate about this work
  7. 7. Every ‘node’ made a SWOT analysis & planned for 2017 100% said the workshop was on target
  8. 8. Together, we went on a site visit – each place has many positive changes that came with the locally-designed Green Map process
  9. 9. Alamar community celebration- 18 years of Green Mapmaking!
  10. 10. Rincon de Guanabo’s Eco Center has mangrove restoration, scuba and a plant lab
  11. 11. Mangrove forests protect coastal communities and provide habitat
  12. 12. Part of a growing permaculture network, this organic farm is opening a roadside juice stand and making Green Maps!
  13. 13. Pinar del Rio’s youth shared how rural communities use mapmaking
  14. 14. We toured biogas & coffee production, fields, gardens & a health spa
  15. 15. At the end, we saw a few changes in Havana since visiting in 1998
