Sasaram is an ancient city in India believed to have been inhabited since the Hindu epic Ramayana. It was originally named Sahasram after the demon Sahastrabahu who lived there and was killed by Parsuram. The city is home to several important historical and religious sites including the Maa Tara Chandi Temple, Sher Shah Suri Tomb, Rohtas Fort, Manjhar Kund, and Dhuan Kund.
