  2. 2. Welcome Aboard Flight 1453: Air Math<br />On this flight we will be learning about Ratios, Rates, and Proportions<br />
  3. 3. First lesson: To determine the speed to take off I would need to find the ratio of the plane’s weight: lift and thrust: drag .<br />

  5. 5. Our second lesson on your flight is the rate. <br />We will be flying a rate of 7.32 miles per minute. <br />And we will be traveling a distance of approximately 4360 miles away.<br />
  6. 6. The total travel time will be approximately 596 minutes.<br /> If we compute a unit analyses by doing a conversion of 60 min=1 hr we will arrive in 9 hrs and 56 mins. <br />
  7. 7. Thus, the plane will be flying the unit rate of 455 miles per hour. <br />
  8. 8. Thus, our last lesson is our proportion.<br />Our plane is a 767-300 meaning the proportion of the plane is slightly larger than 767-200. As you can see <br />With the 767-200 this gives us a proportion ratio of A:B:C = 190:200:181.With the 767-300 we get a proportion ratio of A:B:C = 221:200:217.<br />
