Pay it forward.Cafea în așteptare (RO), Висящо кафе (BG)A good deed that has more than one version – randomgenerosity meets cozy coffee shop and friendly customersor small charity gesture flows in local tribes. A caffè sospeso (Italian: suspended coffee) or caffè pagato (paid coffee) is a cup of WHAT? coffee paid for in advance as an anonymous act of charity. The tradition began in the working-class cafés of Naples, where someone who had experienced good luck would order a sospeso, paying the price of two coffees but receiving and consuming only one. A poor person enquiring later whether there was a sospeso available would then be served a coffee for free.

How did the suspendedcoffee movement start inRomaniaAs a local initiative and with the support of,in less than two weeks after the idea was firstsuggested, 35 places from 10 cities in Romania joinedthe movement and implemented the suspendedcoffee idea. Some owners chose the gamification idea of paying fora coffee for someone else, by encouraging customersto leave notes with good thoughts for those whowould claim the coffee. Others preferred the charityidea and found transparent mechanisms for giving theproducts that were left  “suspended” directly to thepeople in need. From the tradition in Southern Italy, passing throughUkraine and Bulgaria and arriving in Romania, thesimplicity of the idea generated more and morerandom acts of generosity. @suspendcoffee
