1. MC-27J
The MC-27J is the multi-mission variant of the successful Alenia Aermacchi C-27J Spartan battlefield airlifter. Developed and marke-
ted jointly with ATK, the world leader in defense capabilities including munitions and gun systems, the MC-27J leverages a modular
roll-on/roll-off system approach.
The proven MC-27J sensors/communications/weapons suite adds robust C2, ISR, Communications Rebroadcast, direct and indirect
Fire Support capabilities while retaining its primary airlift role and renowned performance, maneuverability, payload, ability to ope-
rate on short, unpaved strips and persistence.
The MC-27J is an adaptable, agile, and affordable solution to the various airborne multi-mission requirements fulfilled today by a
wide variety of specialized and dedicated aircraft, to include versions of the C-130 developed to support special operations missions.
Compared to the C-130J, the basic C-27J has a 50% lower acquisition and flight hour cost while offering 70% training, logistics and
spares commonality. In operational terms it can perform 90% of routine C-130 theater missions. Its ruggedness is confirmed by mis-
sion availability rates in excess of 85% recorded in over three years of operational deployments in the austere and extreme Afghan
environment.The proven, off-the-shelf MC-27J mission kits/pallets require minimal aircraft integration and offer acquisition and ope-
rating costs significantly lower than legacy platforms.
