WATERNOMICS equiped all pilot sites with
sensors linked to a single smart water plat-
form. With this smart water system, WA-
TERNOMICS applications are being tested.

RESULTSAPPROACHTHE WATER CHALLENGE
OBJECTIVES
Studies carried out by the European Commis-
sion have identified that a significant part of
Europe suffers from water stress, that the
cumulative impacts of economic development
and climate change are likely to aggravate the
situation in many areas where water stress
already exists and that further significant
parts of Europe are likely to be affected in the
future.
The same studies identified a very significant
potential for water savings in Europe through
improved water efficiency, in particular in
agriculture, buildings and water distribution
systems. It is estimated that between 20-
40% of Europe’s water is being wasted.
WATERNOMICS will provide personalized and
actionable information on water consumption
and water availability to individual house-
holds, companies and cities in an intuitive &
effective manner at relevant time-scales for
decision making. Project objectives include:
● Introduce demand response and ac-
countability principles in the water sector
● Engage consumers in new interactive and
personalized ways that bring water effi-
ciency to the forefront and leads to changes
in water behaviours
● Empower corporate decision makers and
municipal area managers with a water
information platform

The project is still ongoing but the first results
have become available. Results range from
new sensor technology, the water information
platform with novel applications to the meth-
odology and new business models and value
propositions. In the final stage, results will be
validated technologically as well as economi-
cally in the four pilots or with relevant busi-
ness partners.

Waternomics for Domestic Usage Municipality of Thermi, Greece Waternomics for Corporate Usage Linate Airport, Milan, Italy Waternomics for Municipalities Galway City, Ireland Homes (single residence, apartments and complexes) in a water stressed region Installing a water manage- ment system in the main terminal of a signature EU airport Decision making tools and support to public buildings and public assets WATERNOMICS equiped all pilot sites with sensors linked to a single smart water plat- form. With this smart water system, WA- TERNOMICS applications are being tested. RESULTSAPPROACHTHE WATER CHALLENGE OBJECTIVES Studies carried out by the European Commis- sion have identified that a significant part of Europe suffers from water stress, that the cumulative impacts of economic development and climate change are likely to aggravate the situation in many areas where water stress already exists and that further significant parts of Europe are likely to be affected in the future. The same studies identified a very significant potential for water savings in Europe through improved water efficiency, in particular in agriculture, buildings and water distribution systems. It is estimated that between 20- 40% of Europe’s water is being wasted. WATERNOMICS will provide personalized and actionable information on water consumption and water availability to individual house- holds, companies and cities in an intuitive & effective manner at relevant time-scales for decision making. Project objectives include: ● Introduce demand response and ac- countability principles in the water sector ● Engage consumers in new interactive and personalized ways that bring water effi- ciency to the forefront and leads to changes in water behaviours ● Empower corporate decision makers and municipal area managers with a water information platform @WATERNOMICS_EU The project is still ongoing but the first results have become available. Results range from new sensor technology, the water information platform with novel applications to the meth- odology and new business models and value propositions. In the final stage, results will be validated technologically as well as economi- cally in the four pilots or with relevant busi- ness partners.
