BuddyPress is a social networking plugin for WordPress that allows users to create profiles, connect with friends, send private messages, participate in forums and groups, and view activity updates. It has features similar to Facebook such as profiles, activity streams, friend connections, and messaging. BuddyPress is open source and built on MySQL and PHP technologies. It requires WordPress version 2.9.1 or greater and has additional plugins that can extend its functionality.
