The MacBook Pro was our most commonly used media technology;because it had the software we needed to edit our footage and alsoto go online. We chose to use a MacBook as we both have them andare very familiar with them which allows us to edit more efficientlywhich is crucial with this project. Another reason we chose Mac overWindows is because of the speed of Mac’s. Mac’s can run extremelyquick which is great when dealing with such a huge amount of HDfootage.
We used iMovie to edit all of our footage for the music video, because itis a fast and easy-to-use program that allowed us to add inserts, text, transitions and effects over various clips of footage. The program alsoallowed us to speed up or slow down any footage we wanted to, whichreally helped when we worked on lip-syncing the piece. We chose I move because thiswas the software that we hadbeen training on for manyyears and have had the mostexperience on and we feltmost confortable using.IMovie was a great choice ofediting software a it could docomplex editing yet verysimplistic.
I also used the professional software’s Photoshop and Lightroom. These software’s allowed me to edit our digipack pictures. From takingphotography A-Level, it has taught me how to use these software’s so Ifelt that I would be able to achieve the best results by using them.Although it was very simplistic editing, these software’s would allowme to edit the pictures, efficiently and to a professionalstandard, which I feel I achieved.
The DSLR camera we used was a great asset to our media product, thiswas because it allowed us to easily watch, and then deletefootage, that did not meet the acceptable requirements such as whenthe lighting was incorrect or the frame had been shot poorly. Using theCannon 7D, it also meant that we could import the footage straightfrom the camera straight to the Mac, quickly, which was convenient.
Slideshare and Prezzi were two of the of my research and planningwebsites that I used, alongside Scribd and the Internet. I used thesebecause it mean that I could upload our research to share onto ouronline blogs for the examiner, and it meant that everything was donedigitally, saving us from losing any work on paper. The most commononline website used was Blogger, this was used to upload and keep adigital track on the process of the work that I have been doing in my A2project. This website was great as it allowed you to customize your ownblog as was very easy to use and navigate around, making bloggingefficient and fun.
Doing the coursework online helped to share our information to socialnetwork sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to ask people tofill out surveys and for them to also keep a track of our work and to givefeedback along the way. Facebook and YouTube allowed us to advertiseour video or ancillary texts to our target audience.
