Walk Walk Sunday: Bible Lessons 199 and 200. Today we'll going through the Bible story of the Transfiguration, an event where Jesus' glory shone as bright as the sun! Also, Moses and Elijah appeared unto Jesus as well, it was an incredible sight to see! We will also discuss about how much Jesus loves children, as well as how important it is to be like little children when submitting to Jesus.

  7. 7. Matthew 16:28 <ul><li>Jesus Transfigured on the Mount </li></ul><ul><li> 28 “Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.” </li></ul>
  8. 8. Matthew 17:1-13 <ul><li>1 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Matthew 17:1-13 <ul><li>3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” </li></ul>

  27. 29. He was taken up by a chariot of fire straight to God
  28. 30. But he will die before Jesus’ second coming
  29. 31. “ Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” <ul><li>Old prophecy in the book of Malachi </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Before the Lord comes, Elijah will turn the hearts of people to the God of their fathers </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Was the prophecy incorrect? </li></ul><ul><ul><li>NO! The prophecy is correct! </li></ul></ul>

Two comings of Jesus (the Messiah) <ul><li>1 st coming </li></ul><ul><ul><li>In humiliation </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Die on the cross </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Time: About 2,000 years ago </li></ul></ul><ul><li>2 nd coming </li></ul><ul><ul><li>In glory </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Establish the kingdom of God </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Time: Nobody knows, but look forward to it! </li></ul></ul>

Before 1 st coming of Jesus… <ul><li>John the Baptist represents Elijah </li></ul><ul><li>Luke 1 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>13 But the angel said to [Zacharias], “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John… </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>17 He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah … to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Note: He is not Elijah, he only represents Elijah </li></ul>

Before 2 nd coming of Jesus… <ul><li>Elijah will come back </li></ul><ul><li>Malachi 4 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>5 &quot;See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.&quot; </li></ul></ul><ul><li>However, this time he will die after he has finished his duty </li></ul>

Mark 10:13-16 <ul><li>Jesus Blesses Little Children </li></ul><ul><li>13 Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. 14 But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. </li></ul>
  35. 37. Mark 10:13-16 <ul><li>15 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” 16 And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them. </li></ul>
  36. 38. <ul><li>Jesus loves everybody, especially the little children </li></ul><ul><li>They are VERY IMPORTANT to Jesus </li></ul><ul><li>So important, that Jesus said… </li></ul>
  37. 39. Matthew 18:6 <ul><li>“ Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” </li></ul>

  54. 56. <ul><li>We must receive the kingdom of God as little children </li></ul>
  55. 57. <ul><li>Does NOT mean we have to BE children in order to believe in Jesus </li></ul>
  56. 58. <ul><li>Means we have to be LIKE children and submit to Jesus with humility just like children should submit to their parents </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Humility means being humble, the opposite of being proud </li></ul></ul>
