This presentation shows the power of knowledge that the 6th Shia Imam had. The Grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, he was given this knowledge, just like all prophets and Imams by GOD Allmighty. The Abbassid ruler Mansur had purposely brought the Indian Doctor to embarrass Imam Sadiq, as the Imam was very popular with the people and hence a threat to Mansur's rule. The knowledge in this conversation was confirmed later on by scientists and doctors

Jaffar AL Sadiq-

  1. 1. It has been narrated by Abul Abbas al-Taleqani - on the authority of his father, on the authority of his grandfather, on the authority of Al-Rabi’a - the companion of al-Mansoor, Once Imam Jaffar Al-Sadiq (as) was summoned by Al- Mansoor, the Abbassid ruler of the time. There was an Indian doctor reading out aloud from a book about medicine.Imam (as) listened to him. And when the Indian doctor finished, he asked the Imam : O jaffar! Do you want me to teach you medicine?
  2. 2. Imam As-Sadiq (as) replied, ‘No. Since what I know is better than what you know.’• The Indian doctor said, ‘What do you know?’
  3. 3. Imam Sadiq(as): What I know is from Allah, Itake nothing but from Allah Almighty. So tell me, who has more knowledge in medicine, me or you?• Doctor: No, I have more knowledge.
  4. 4. Imam Sadiq(as): then can I ask you a few questions? Doctor: ask
  5. 5. Imam Sadiq(as):tell me, why is the head made into different parts and not one piece? Doctor: I don’t knowImam sadiq’s (as) answer: The skull is made of several piecessince it is hollow. It would break up, if it was not made up of several pieces. It lasts longer since it is made up of several pieces.
  6. 6. Imam Sadiq (as): why is the hair on top of the head? Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: There is hair on top of the skullso that the oil from the base of the hair can reach the brain, and evaporation can take place from the tips of the hair tolet off the heat of the brain.
  7. 7. Imam Sadiq(as):tell me, why does the forehead not have anyhair, but it is lined? Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: There is no hair on the forehead so that light can reach theeyes. There are lines and wrinkles on the forehead to block the sweat from the head, sothat it doesn’t reach the eyes long enough for one to wipe it off. It is similar to the riverbeds on the Earth which hold the water.
  8. 8. Imam Sadiq (as): why are the eyebrows located above the eyes? Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: eyebrows are placed abovethe eyes to control the amount of light that reachesthe eyes.
  9. 9. Imam Sadiq (as): why are the eyes shaped like the almonds? Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: The two eyes are shaped like almonds sothat drops of medication can stay in them and not fall off.
  10. 10. Imam Sadiq (as): why is the nose located in between the two eyes? Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: O doctor! Have you not noticed thatwhen there is too much light, people hold their hand abovetheir eyes so as to limit the amount of light which reaches theeyes. The nose is placed in between the two eyes so as toequally divide the light into them.
  11. 11. Imam Sadiq(as):why is the opening of the nose at its bottom? Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: The holes in the nose are located beneath it, so thatthe waste stuff from can leave the skull through it and the smell of things canbe sensed by it. If the holes were placed above it neither could the waste stuffleave the skull nor could you smell anything.
  12. 12. Imam Sadiq(as):why are the moustache and lip above the mouth? Doctor: I don’t know Imam Sadiq’s (as) answer: A lip and the moustache are placed above the mouth so as to hold the waste stuff leaving the skull through the nose and so as not to pollute the food and drinks
  13. 13. Imam Sadiq(as): of the teeth, why are the incisors sharp, and the molars wide, and the canines tall? Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: The front teeth are sharp to make it easier tobite and chew. The grinding teeth are wide so that it is easier to breakdown the food which we chew and the canine teeth are high to reinforcethe grinding teeth just as pillars which are used in buildings.
  14. 14. Imam Sadiq(as): Why are the nails and the hair not alive? Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: The nails and the hair are not alive,(don’t have anypain sensors) since they look awkward when they grow and they look betterwhen they are trimmed or cut. However, if they were alive one would feel pain.
  15. 15. Imam Sadiq (as): why are the palms free of hair? Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: There is no hair on the palm of thehands so that one can feel what he touches with them. Were thereany hair on the palms of the hands, nothing could be felt bytouching
  16. 16. Imam Sadiq (as): why is the heart like the pine seed? Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: The heart is shaped like a pine seed becauseit is upside-down. Its top is narrower so that it can fit on between thelungs, and the lungs cool it, while it pumps and the brain doesn’t burnout due to heat.
  17. 17. Imam Sadiq (as): Why do the lungs have two divisions which move in place?’ Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: The lungs have been made in two divisions whichmove in place so that it may encompass the heart and get cooled with itsbeating.
  18. 18. Imam Sadiq (as): Why is the liver curved? Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: The liver is curved so that it may encompass thestomach with its weight placed on the stomach in order that the stomach’svapors may leave it.
  19. 19. Imam Sadiq (as): why do the knees bend backwards? Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: The two legs bend the waythey do, since we normally walk forward and ourmovements are balanced. Were it otherwise, wewould fall down when we walked.
  20. 20. Imam Sadiq (as): why is the foot not flat? Doctor: I don’t knowImam Sadiq’s (as) answer: Our feet are curved, since once we step onthe ground we do not feel all the weight. This is similar to a millstone. Ifa millstone is placed on its round edge even a child can turn it.However, if it falls on the ground even a strong man cannot move it.’
  21. 21. The Indian doctor asked, ‘Where did youlearn this knowledge from?’As-Sadiq (as) replied, ‘I learned thesefrom my forefathers who had learned itfrom Prophet Muhammad(as). TheProphet had learned it from archangelJibrail who had learned it from ALLAH(swt )the Lord of the Worlds - may HisMajesty be Exalted, who created the bodyand the soul.’
  22. 22. The doctor said, ‘You are right. Ibear witness that there is nogod but God and Muhammad isGod and His servant and youare the most knowledgeableman of your time.’”
