Leaking containers can result in reduced or zero product delivery leaving customers dissatisfied and ruining your brand image. Leaks can originate from faulty valves, broken valve stems or missing valve cup gaskets, and missaligned or missapplied valve cups. Parallel belts transportthe container past a sensor that measures the tension on the sidewallof the container. This action allows the system to measure the pressureinside the container. Utilizing DSP technology, the controller analyzesthe measurement and assigns a merit value to each container. A P P L I C AT I O N N O T E STEST Figure 1Figure 1 shows the evaluation 1000 TapTone 4000-FS Merit Valuescomparing non-leaking cans to 900low pressure and no pressure cans. 800The non-leaking cans had internalpressures around 140 psi. The low 700and no pressure cans were supplied 600from the customer. The cans were 500 9-Good Pressuretested several times to get a larger 9-Low Pressure 2-Zero Pressurepopulation of readings. 400 300During the testing, the non-leaking 200cans generated an average merit 100value* of 960. The low pressure canshad average merit values of 830 0 1 6 11 16 21 26 31 36 41 46 51and all showed good separation invalues from the population of good Number of Passescans. The zero pressure cans showed Figure 2a clear separation from both the 1000good and low pressure cans.
