3. HARDWARE:
DESIGNED TO MAXIMIZE SPACE AND EASE
FUNCTION
• Full extension glides
• Extends a drawer out to it’s full length, bringing the back of the drawer level with the
counter.
• Listed as one of the things that are worth splurging on in a kitchen remodel in the
September 2011 edition of “This Old House”
• The soft close feature eliminates slamming, saves on wear and tear, and saves little
fingers.
• Servo Drive
• This is hardware that allows you to both bump your doors open and closed.
4. HARDWARE
• Aventos system
• Allows doors to either flip up or out
• Allows doors to stop at any opening position
• Provides stability, even with wide fronts
6. HARDWARE
• Drawer Organizers
• Pot and pan storage
• Pot lid storage
• Spice racks/drawers
• Pull-out vertical organizers
• Foil/saran wrap organizers
7. INDIVIDUAL ROOMS:
PRACTICAL IDEAS
• Kitchen
• Maximize corners using blind corner system – a set of trays that either
automatically or manually pulls out when you open the door.
• Drawers vs. Roll-outs: Roll-outs have shorter sides, and require you to
first open the door. Ideal for places such as under the sink or in the
pantry. Deep drawers are great for big items, such as pots and pans.
• Large appliance holders: Recommended for medium to large
kitchens. Appliance holder swings out of cabinet and up until it’s level
with the counter.
8. KITCHEN: SAVING MONEY
• Keep cabinets to the standard 8’ height, both for convenience and to save
money. If storage is very tight in the rest of the house, cabinets that go
up to the ceiling can be used for storage, or to display collectibles.
• Avoid glazed finishes or distressed looks on cabinetry.
9. BATHROOMS
• Medicine cabinets: Integrate outlets
for corded accessories. Decide on
wall-mount cabinet or one that uses
the stud space.
• Tower cabinets: Great for storing
linens, toilet paper, and other
bathroom essentials.
• Lowered vanity area: Gives
designated place for trays of
perfume and make-up. Allows
seating while applying make-up.
10. BEDROOMS
• Fireplace alcove with shelves
• Hutch at end of bed with pop-up TV
• Built-in dressers with drawer organizers
• Desk area in bedroom
• Bench seat under window – more storage
• Closet systems and organizers
11. DINING ROOM
• Built-in hutch: A great and beautiful place to store dishes, linens and other
dining accessories.
12. HOME OFFICE
• Organization is key to working
from home.
• Appropriate plug-ins: for
computer, fax, scanner, cell
phone, etc
• Roll-outs: put computer tower,
fax and scanner on roll-outs
(keeps desk area clear;
convenient to pull out)
13. HOME OFFICES
• Pop-up monitor hardware:
keeps desk clear when not in
use.
• Large file drawers that face
you: improves organization;
easy access from seated
position.
14. HOME OFFICES
• Cork/Vinyl board:
great central location
for invitations,
announcements,
pictures, etc. Vinyl
closes after removal
of push pins.
• Basket cubbies: great
for storage and style.
15. FAMILY AND LIVING ROOM
• Fireplace surround: increases
storage
• Entertainment centers:
organize and hide TV, DVD
player, Xbox, etc behind
closed doors. Beautiful when
made to match with rest of
house.
• Fireplace mantle: adds style to
the room; beautiful to
decorate.
• Match mantle, fireplace
surround and entertainment
center for a stunning seamless
look.
16. LAUNDRY ROOM
• Built-in cabinetry with fold-down iron board, drawers and shelves for
storage, rack to hang laundry, and pull-out hamper.
• Put washer and dryer on platforms with drawers built-in for extra storage.
17. WINE ROOM
• Can be as simple as racks of wine, or as complicated as a climate
controlled room with wine racks around the perimeter, and an island in the
middle in which to serve wine and cheese.
18. OUTDOOR LIVING
• Covered cabana area with under-counter refrigerator, BBQ, sink, cooktop
and ice maker.
• Wood type and stainless steel hardware are what make this look good and
last for years to come.
• Outdoor hutch to store outdoor linens and accessories in.
19. CUSTOM VS. SEMI-CUSTOM OR
