  2. 2. <ul><li>Introduction </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul><ul><li>The first healing miracle recorded in the book of Acts. </li></ul><ul><li>After the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. </li></ul><ul><li>5 important principals to learn from this chapter. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Mere religion is blind to people’s needs </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul><ul><li>The disciples were USED to go the temple very often, (Acts 3:1-2) </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul><ul><li>The stated times for prayer in Judaism: Early in the morning. </li></ul><ul><li>At the ninth hour of the day (Probably 3’ O clock). </li></ul><ul><li>Again at Sunset. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Mere religion is… </li></ul><ul><li>B. They were USED to see the crippled beggar, (Acts 3:2b) </li></ul><ul><li>The beggar was crippled from birth. 40 years! </li></ul><ul><li>People had to carry him to beg! </li></ul><ul><li>We are often blind to the needs of others around us. </li></ul>

The Holy Spirit opens our spiritual eyes, (Acts 3:3) </li></ul><ul><li>This beggar was in this same spot for years </li></ul><ul><li>Peter and John had passed him daily </li></ul><ul><li>Neither had paid him any mind before now </li></ul><ul><li>Now, they “looked straight at him!” (3:4) </li></ul>

Only the Spirit filled Christian can meet these needs, (Acts 3:5-6) </li></ul><ul><li>The disciples did not have personal funds to give the beggar </li></ul><ul><li>“ What I have (the power of God to heal) I give to you…” </li></ul><ul><li>With the Holy Spirit of God, what you have is enough! </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>4. The Spirit gives us the boldness to take a step of faith, (Acts 3:7) </li></ul><ul><li>Peter took his hand and helped him to his feet. </li></ul><ul><li>God’s plan is to use us as instruments </li></ul><ul><li>God did nothing until Peter reached out… </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>5. Only the Holy Spirit of God can revive the church </li></ul><ul><li>The beggar was immediately blessed! (Acts 3:8) </li></ul><ul><li>People filled with wonder and amazement (Acts 3:10) </li></ul><ul><li>2,000 more families joined the Church! (Acts 4:4) </li></ul>
  9. 9. <ul><li>6. Conclusion </li></ul><ul><li>This event gave Peter a preaching opportunity, (Acts 3:12-26) </li></ul><ul><li>Power evangelism opens doors for ministry </li></ul><ul><li>Don’t be afraid to ask god for the supernatural! </li></ul>
