Traditionally, people think of a brand as just a logo or symbol. —  It was all about the business identity, and little about the individual. There has been a marketing shift. —  Rather than connecting with a logo, people now connect with other business people through in-person and social networking. You represent your business through your in-person and social networking.
    3. 3. ©2014 Virtuallinda Media LLC • www.virtuallinda.comTHE BRAND BUILDER TOOLBOX with Virtuallinda 3   The way that businesses connect to their audiences has changed. —  We used to like brands from one-way advertising campaigns. —  Now people are getting to KNOW, LIKE and TRUST a business brand through individuals and our networks. —  An individual from a business, not the logo, engage in conversation. YOUR BUSINESS BRAND = BOTH PROFESSIONAL + PERSONAL A Blend of Professional & Personal
    4. 4. ©2014 Virtuallinda Media LLC • www.virtuallinda.comTHE BRAND BUILDER TOOLBOX with Virtuallinda 4   Goals of a Brand GOAL: To leave people with a positive feeling after interacting with you. —  Every “touch” you have with a client will reinforce your brand. —  This can be from in-person and online contact or with traditional marketing. —  It is important to give some serious thought to how you represent yourself online, as your personal interests will reflect on your business. How can you be professional and personable but keep your privacy? A  Good  Brand:   •  Delivers  the  message  clearly   •  Confirms  your  credibility   •  Connects  to  your  target   prospects  emo;onally   •  Mo;vates  the  buyer   •  Increases  user  loyalty     …and  so  does  a  good   online  profile  or  elevator  pitch!

Supports your business goals. Share your knowledge & next action steps. Likes and interests outside your work experience. Can reveal to specific lists for targeted marketing, but OK if it leaked to public. Information you NEVER want passed on. Once it’s online, it’s there forever… and can be passed on by a screenshot or gossip. The golden rule for every social networker

    8. 8. ©2014 Virtuallinda Media LLC • www.virtuallinda.comTHE BRAND BUILDER TOOLBOX with Virtuallinda 8   Make Connections & Build Relationships Through Shared Interests —  One of the shifts with Social Media is the blending of personal & business. —  Successful “Business Brands” blend in other interests besides just work. —  Many business leaders are active in their real-life communities, doing charity work and other outreach, but they may consider this “separate” from work. You are an extension of your Brand, so connecting online with these interests reflects on your Business, too! Personal Likes & Interests Types  of  Interests:   •  Charity  Work   •  Sports   •  TV  Shows  /  Movies   •  Music   •  Local  Interests   •  Travel   •  News  Events   •  Religious  /  Spiritual*   •  Poli;cs*       *  You  may  wish  to  keep  private
