FAMOUS CULTURAL NOSE PIERCING
In diverse states of India this jewel is made differently. The Mukhuttis of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have ornate, traditional lotus
and swan designs and are mostly studded with diamonds, or the poor man’s diamond, the topaz.
Rajasthani women wear the nathuri and the bhauriya. While the first is a small gold or silver ring with precious stones, the bhauriya
has a slightly different design.
The conventional clove-shaped nose stud is called the laung, while the small pendant suspended between the nostrils is the latkan,
because of its pendulous character.
In UP the nath is adorned with two pearls and a pendulous bead to augur prosperity. The Punjabi damsel has a gold ring strung with
as many as 20 to 25 motifs. It is the shikarpuri nath.
In Maharashtra it is the guchhedar nath, which is known for its radiant beauty with pearl decorations. Pullakku nose ring in South
India (bulaag in the North) is the pendant suspended from the partition of the nostrils.
Piercings have been always been an ancient way to decorate the body with ornaments at different parts of body having its own
scientific benefits.
Let's have a look at different of types of piercings and their own benefits.

Earlobes are by far the most common piercing in the world and are one of the oldest forms of body
modification. The process involves less pain, and with good care, it heals quickly.
In earlier times, piercings were done at home using ice and a sewing needle. Later ear piercing gun
were developed, however, this is arguably not the best method to use. It is generally agreed by body
art professionals that the cleanest, quickest, and safest way to pierce ears is the same way we
perform all of our piercings: with a sterile, single-use, disposable needle and aseptic technique.

HYGIENE
Body piercing involves piercing a hole in a part of the body (including the ear and nose), in order to fix a ring or other piece of jewellery to the body.
Because body piercing is a skin penetration procedure that carries a risk of infection, the premises and procedures must comply.
Lack of hygiene, lack of proper sterilization of the area are common reasons why pierced areas catch infection. Also, there are some people whose
skin is very sensitive and when they clean the pierced area with antiseptic, they get irritant eczema.
Proper piercing studio hygiene means that a studio uses a new needle on each client, sanitizes each work area between uses and that each piercer
wears a new pair of gloves for every new client they pierce.
If these steps are not taken, diseases and infections can be spread among clients. To make sure that new needles are used, watch to see whether the
needle is taken out of new packaging. If a piercer does not do this, request that he or she does.
In next slide, we will show you list of list of things that needs extreme Hygiene in Piercing Studio.
29. WHAT TO KEEP PIERCING STUDIO CLEAN?
The shop / studio must be kept clean and hygienic.
Instruments, needles and jewellery used to pierce the skin must be sterile.
The operator should not have exposed cuts or wounds, and their clothes must be clean.
The proprietor or operator must provide you with accurate health information before any procedure takes place.
An ideal piercing studio will have:
Good ventilation and lighting.
A separate area set aside for the cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation of instruments.
Benches, floors, shelving and furniture that can easily be kept clean – items that may need to be touched (such as
spray and ink bottles) should be covered with single-use plastic bags so that only the nozzles are exposed.
Clean Hand washbasin.

30. CROSS CONTAMINATION
Jun.
2019
Cross-contamination is the act of spreading bacteria and viruses from one surface to another. Since bloodborne viruses can
live on objects and surfaces for up to a week, germs could be spread when surfaces are not disinfected the right way or if
equipment is not cleaned and sterilized between clients.
Some examples of cross-contamination are:
A piercer places his tools on a counter that has not been disinfected and then uses the tools for a piercing procedure without
sterilizing them.
A tattooist, while working on a client, answers the phone without removing her gloves. By not removing her gloves, the artist
may spread bacteria and viruses from the gloves onto the phone. Other people using the phone could then be exposed to a
disease.
In Piercing Course we will add some additional information for preventative practices that may reduce
cross-contamination in the body art industry.
31. NEEDLE SIZES & CHOICES
Jun.
2019
Depending on geographical location, certain types of needles for
body piercing procedures are illegal. Inexperienced or
unprofessional piercers use sewing needles or piercing guns to
pierce body parts not realizing the dangers of that practice.
InkPotentials we will teach you :
How to choose the right piercing needles?
Which one is legal / illegal?
How to pierce?
How to close piercings?
You must have knowledge of the right needles and piercings. You
have to be more careful if you are going to pierce your body on your
own.
32. BODY PIERCING PLACEMENT
Jun.
2019
Different types of piercings require different piercing techniques & tools
depending up on placement.
Sometimes a receiving tube or cork is necessary to protect a client
when piercing a sensitive area. When placing a surface barbell, you
may need to use a scalpel to create a line in which you can nestle the
surface bar. When doing a dermal piercing, a dermal punch may be a
better alternative to a piercing needle.
These are just a few examples of the different types of piercing
techniques and tools required for various piercings.
Focus on below :
Proper Angle
No Damage to nerve
No Damage to underlying Blood vessels
33. JEWELLERY SIZING
Jun.
2019

the jewellery will shift around and slow healing.
If it's too big it may tear the skin around a new piercing.
Gauge sizes range from 20g (0.81mm) up to 00g (10-51mm).
Everyone's body is different, and sometimes piercers will use
different lengths and gauges depending on your body and the type
of jewelry you want to wear.
Hence, selecting relevant jewellery size for particular is important.

Jun.

liability if an unforeseen accident should take place

seeking tattoos and piercings in accordance with the
respective State laws. If allowed, the consent form is
