  9. 9. Connect the casing directly to the suction inlet of the pump Ensure 1- All joints must be air-tight
  10. 10. Connect the casing directly to the suction inlet of the pump 2- Any small air leeks will stop pump from priming and pumping water
  11. 11. Connect the casing directly to the suction inlet of the pump 3- Rising main or casing should be similar size as the pump inlet
  12. 12. Connect the casing directly to the suction inlet of the pump Negative Aspects
  13. 13. Connect the casing directly to the suction inlet of the pump 1- The pump has to prime itself every time, not reliable.
  14. 14. Connect the casing directly to the suction inlet of the pump 2- The rising main is usually a lot larger than the pump inlet
  15. 15. Connect the casing directly to the suction inlet of the pump 3- If a foot valve is fitted, and leeks it cannot be fixed unless the complete screen is removed.
  16. 16. Solution 2 Recommended
  17. 17. Suction line fitted inside sandspear A separate suction line from the pump inlet is installed inside the screen and the rising main.
  18. 18. Suction line fitted inside sandspear By having a foot valve at the bottom of the suction line the pump is fully primed at all times
  19. 19. Suction line fitted inside sandspear If any sand builds up in the foot valve and stops the pump from being primed, it can easily be pulled up, cleaned and re-installed quickly
  20. 20. Suction line fitted inside sandspear The suction line is a standard poly pipe or pvc , with a non – return valve fitted at the bottom
  21. 21. Suction line fitted inside sandspear Advantages 1- The pump is always primed. 2- Easy Installation and removal
