How is waste treated in bulgaria and other

  1. 1. How is waste treated in Bulgaria and other EU countries Made by : Radoslav Dolev Teodor Yosifidis Ivelina Gotsova Violeta Gospodinova Maria Yaneva Maria-Magdalena Petrova
  2. 2. Waste Treatment  Waste treatment  refers to the activities required to ensure that waste has the least practicable impact on the environment. In many countries various forms of waste treatment are required by law.
  3. 3. Most polluted  The most polluted countries in EU are Bulgaria and Poland. The most polluted town in EU is Pernik,Bulgaria with 180.0 days above the target. The second most polluted town is also Bulgarian – Plovdiv ( 161.0 ) The third town is Krakow,Poland with 150.5.
  4. 4. Most clean The most clean towns in EU are Madrid, Paris, Birmingham, Amsterdam, etc. They are keeping good policy of recycling and cleaning.
  5. 5. Recycling  Recycling  is a process to change (waste) materials into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from landfilling) by reducing the need for "conventional" waste disposal, and lower greenhouse gas emissions as compared to plastic production.Recycling is a key component of modern waste reduction and is the third component of the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" waste hierarchy.
  6. 6. Recycling Bins - A recycling bin  is a container used to hold recyclables before they are taken to recycling centers. Recycling bins exist in various sizes for use in homes, offices, and large public facilities. Separate containers are often provided for paper, tin or aluminum cans, and glass or plasticbottles. - Many recycling bins are designed to be easily recognizable, and are marked with slogans promoting recycling on a blue or green background along with the universal recycling symbol. Others are intentionally unobtrusive. Bins are sometimes different colors so that user may differentiate between the types of materials to be placed in them. While there is no universal standard, the color blue is commonly used to indicate a bin is for recycling in public settings.
  7. 7. A typical rubbish bin in Bulgaria
  8. 8. Solutions for the waste problems -People should divide their rubbish and put it in the recycle bins so they can recycle easier and useful for the planet. - There should be penalties for throwing the rubbish on the streets. - There should be more dustbins for recycling.
