  2. 2.  Comprising about 70% of the earth surface water is one of the essential and most sought after resource in the world. With this essentiality it makes water a very useful resource to mankind, and therefore its wide usage and importance. WATER CONSUMPTION  Water in Ghana is consumed in many different forms;  IRRIGATIONAL ACTIVITIES Water in Ghana is used widely for irrigational activities
  3. 3. Since Agriculture occupies vast of the country’s economy, water becomes very important in that sector.  FOR INDUSTRIAL PURPOSES Water is also used widely in the industrial firms. Most of the water is used in the production of goods and the cooling of machines in the Factories.  FOR DOMESTIC PURPOSES. Water is mainly consumed in Ghana for the purpose of domestic activities. These activities include bathing, cooking, washing of clothes and utensils and cleaning

  5. 5. SOURCES OF WATER
  6. 6. Water in Ghana can be obtained from numerous sources, these may include  The sea (Marine) Ghana is bounded to the south by the sea therefore, the sea provides water for those residing in the coastal areas.  Lagoons  Streams and Rivers Streams and rivers are very remarkable sources of water for the rural areas, since these water bodies flow through these areas.  Dams  Hydrologic power plants These plants purify the water from the water bodies such as the rivers, streams and lagoon.

  8. 8.  Water, even though has a lot of uses has faces wastage problems. The following are the various ways in which water is wasted in Ghana.  Leaving of taps flowing with no one attending to it.  Water is also wasted when gardeners overwater their lawns and garden with water.
  9. 9. WATER POLLUTION IN GHANA
  10. 10.  CAUSES OF WATER POLLUTION Water pollution in Ghana is caused mainly by human activities. These activities be can be grouped into two,  Direct factors These include large industries, refineries and treatment plants connecting tubes into water bodies and depositing their waste materials into the water bodies.
  11. 11.  INDIRECT FACTORS These include contaminants from the soil, agricultural practices such as fertilizer from farms draining into water
