  1. 1. COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY Unit 1 – Lesson 1: Getting Started with Excel Objectives: SWBAT 1. Start Excel. 2. Navigate in a workbook. 3. Open an existing workbook. 4. Edit a worksheet. 5. Manage files. 6. Print Excel files. Warm Up: Prepare workstation 1. Book bags/purses put away. 2. Pencil/pen and paper at desk. 3. Put textbook in keyboarding stand. 4. Turn on computer. 5. Read notes below. NOTE: Follow the steps listed below to open an existing Excel file. (Exercise 1-8) 1. Double click on Glencoe Shared Folder. 2. Double click on Excel. 3. Double click on Student Folder. 4. Double click on the file name. NOTE: When the textbook tells you to key [your initials] key your last name instead of your initials. (Exercise 1-14) NOTE: Save lesson folders for this course on your flash drive. (Exercise 1-14) Assignment: Complete the following Exercises beginning on page 17 in your textbook. 1-8 1-9 1-10 1-11 1-12 1-13 1-14 1-15 1-16 1-17 Assignment: Read Using Help on pages 28-29. Read Lesson 1 Summary on pages 29-30. Using Microsoft Word, type and answer the Concept Review questions on pages 31-32. Head your paper with your name, the date, and Lesson 1. Make sure to number the questions. Do not answer the Critical Thinking questions. (PRINT) Assignment: Complete Lesson Application Exercises on pages 35-37. 1-22, 1-23, 1-24, 1-25 (DO NOT PRINT) Assignment: Complete On Your Own Exercises on pages 37-38. 1-26, 1-27 (PRINT) Congratulations!
