The solar system and how it works

  1. 1. How was the solar system formed?0 The solar system was made by the birth of the Sun.0 The other planets formed around the Sun and that’s why they all orbit the Sun.
  2. 2. The Sun0 The Sun is the centre of our Solar System.0 Every planet orbits around the Sun.0 Without the Sun we wouldn’t have a galaxy.
  3. 3. Mercury0 Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun.0 Mercury looks a lot like our moon to the naked eye.0 It the smallest planet in the Solar System and the fastest.0 It is the second hottest planet in the Solar System.
  4. 4. Venus0 Venus is the closest plant to Earth and closest in size to Earth.0 Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system.0 Venus has one of the thickest atmospheres.
  5. 5. Earth0 Earth is the only planet that has gravity. Every other planet has zero gravity.0 Earth is also the only planet to have living creatures.0 We have a breathable atmosphere and water.
  6. 6. Mars0 Mars is a red orange colour.0 It’s the second closest planet to Earth.0 Its know as Earth’s twin.
  7. 7. Ceres0 Ceres is a dwarf planet.0 It’s found only in the inner solar system and it’s the largest asteroid
  8. 8. Jupiter0 Jupiter is made out of gas.0 Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system.0 Through a telescope it looks like Jupiter has a big eye but actually it is just a really big storm.
  9. 9. Saturn0 Saturns rings are made of ice particles with a smaller amount of rock debris.0 Saturn is one of four planets that have rings.0 It is also a gas planet.
  10. 10. Uranus0 Uranus is 67 times heaver than Earth.0 You weigh 4 kilos less on Uranus.0 Uranus is made of gas.
  11. 11. Neptune0 On Neptune you would weigh 4 kilos more.0 Neptune is the smallest gas planet.0 Neptune has 6 rings.
