I was invited to speak on "Swami Vivekananda : Women Empowerment" last year as a part of National Youth Day Celebration at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Memorial Vadodara in a gathering of NCC Cadets and other young enthusiasts .... Swami Vivekananda had given very relevant solutions to some of the most serious problems, not only in India, but spread world-wide related to women - inequality, lack of education, suppression and exploitation and so on .... We need to rethink and re-establish our understanding of Womanhood, as also of related matters like - Education (We mistake Literacy for Education), Equality (We mess up Merits and Quality-consciousness with cooked up, petty issues related to Equality and this has led to wide-spread problems of pseudo-professionalism, many of them very serious), Independence and Interdependence (The word "Independence" belongs to the world of spiritualism - it is a quality of spirit. Seeking "independence" in physical world, whether in human relationships or our relationships with our surroundings - complete ecosystem - the living as well as non-living sources Nature has bestowed upon our Existence, is foolishness - gross ignorance, which disrupts and destroys relationships, and on a large scale causes social as well as environmental chaos. The "Independence" in physical world means honouring and fulfilling "Interdependence" .... ) and so on .... Womanliness and Womanhood - present in every human being, whether a man or a woman - needs to be nurtured, empowered, appreciated and celebrated :) :)
Felt blessed by appreciation from the dignitaries present there and the audience.
Here is an article prepared as a compilation of the essence of the talk ....
