  2. 2. GEOGRAPHY OF CATALONIA <ul><li>Anoia county is located in the centre of Catalonia. </li></ul><ul><li>The county has the same name that the main river in it: Anoia. </li></ul>
  3. 3. DEPRESSION CENTRAL <ul><li>In the South of Anoia county there is a mountainous chain: the Serralada Prelitoral. </li></ul>
  4. 4. SITUATION <ul><li>In the North of Anoia there is a big plain: the Depressió Central. </li></ul><ul><li>The neighbour counties are: Bages, Valles Occidental, Baix Llobregat, Alt Penedès, Alt camp, Conca de Barberà, Segarra, Solsonès. </li></ul>
  5. 5. MAP <ul><li>In the Anoia county there are thirty towns. </li></ul><ul><li>The capital of Anoia county is Igualada. </li></ul>
  6. 6. ANOIA COUNTY REGIONS <ul><li>In the Anoia region we can distinguish three areas: High Anoia in the North, Odena Basin in the center and South Anoia in the South. </li></ul>
  7. 7. VEGETATION <ul><li>The vegetation in Anoia county is Mediterranean. </li></ul><ul><li>The main species are the Oak, the White Pine, the Rosmarin. </li></ul>
  8. 8. WHITE PINE <ul><li>One of the principal species of the region is the white pine. </li></ul><ul><li>The name of this pine comes from the colour of its bark. </li></ul><ul><li>In the white pine the pine cones make an angle of 45 degrees with the branch . </li></ul>
  9. 9. THYME AND ROSMARIN <ul><li>Because there is Mediterranean climate, vegetation in Anoia has many aromatic plants. </li></ul><ul><li>Rosemarin and thyme can be used to complement dishes, soups or make perfumes. </li></ul>
  10. 10. OAK, EVERGREEN OAK AND KERMES OAK <ul><li>In the northern region of the Anoia the vegetation is mainly formed by Oak, Evergreen Oak and Kermes Oak. </li></ul>
  11. 11. VINEYARDS <ul><li>In the South of the Anoia county, near the Penedès county, there are vineyards. The wine produced belongs to the Penedès “ denominació d ’ origen ” . </li></ul>
  12. 12. CASTLE IN LA POBLA <ul><li>The site of most interest in La Pobla de Claramunt is its castle dating from the tenth century. </li></ul>
  13. 13. LA TOSSA PRE-ROMANESQUE CHURCH <ul><li>One of the main monuments in Anoia region is La Tossa hermitage in Montbui, dating from the eleventh century. </li></ul>
  14. 14. BOIXADORS CASTLE <ul><li>Built at the beginning of the eleventh century at the Castelltallat mountain range. </li></ul>
  15. 15. TRAIN <ul><li>In the region of Anoia there are two train lines: RENFE that goes from Barcelona to Lleida and Catalonia ferrocarils line that goes from Igualada to BCN. </li></ul>
  16. 16. HISPANO IGUALADINA <ul><li>The Hispano Igualadina coaches line is one of the routes more used of the region of Anoia. </li></ul><ul><li>It is one of the capital companies of the region. </li></ul>
  17. 17. CAL FONT SQUARE <ul><li>One of the principal meeting points in Igualada is Cal Font square, where was an old factory which its chimney. </li></ul>
  18. 18. IGUALADA TOWN HALL SQUARE <ul><li>The local council is in the downtown. </li></ul><ul><li>There is one major called: Jordi Aymamí. </li></ul><ul><li>There are nine alderman too. </li></ul>
  19. 19. HIGH ANOIA <ul><li>Alta Anoia consists in seven towns: Castellfollit de Riubregós, Calaf, Veciana, Sant Martí sesgueioles, Prats de Rei, Calonge de Segarra and Sant Pere de Sallavinera. </li></ul>
  20. 20. ANOIA ’ S ROCK <ul><li>The majority of the rocks in the region of Anoia are sedimentary rocks. </li></ul><ul><li>The most frequent are conglomerate, marl and gypsum. </li></ul>
  21. 21. PRIMARY SECTOR <ul><li>Like in most Catalonia the primary sector is getting lost. </li></ul><ul><li>The most important cops are cereals. </li></ul><ul><li>Many retired people have got orchards. </li></ul>
  22. 22. SECONDARY SECTOR <ul><li>In the secondary sector the most important are leather and textile. </li></ul>
  23. 23. TERTIARY SECTOR <ul><li>The tertiary sector includes shops, sanitary services, public services, restaurants… </li></ul><ul><li>The tertiary sector increased very much these last years in the capital of Anoia's county. </li></ul>
  24. 24. CLIMATE <ul><li>The region has a Mediterranean climate. </li></ul><ul><li>It rains in autumn and the driest season is summer </li></ul>
  25. 25. FIVE PLACES TO VISIT
  26. 26. CAPELLADES <ul><li>In Capellades there are two important sites to visit, the paper mill and the Romani neolithic site. </li></ul><ul><li>The paper mill is a museum. </li></ul><ul><li>In the Romani site they found remains of Homo neanderthalensis. </li></ul>
  27. 27. MONTSERRAT <ul><li>In Montserrat there is one of the mostimportant churches in Catalonia. </li></ul><ul><li>Montserrat is a site that attracts tourism of the whole world. </li></ul>
  28. 28. SANT CRIST ASYLUM <ul><li>It is an asylum of modernism times. </li></ul><ul><li>It is one of the first in the region </li></ul><ul><li>Sant Crist asylum is in Igualada, the capital of Anoia county </li></ul>
  29. 29. THE BRUC DRUMMER <ul><li>The Bruc Drummer is a very important figure for the region. </li></ul><ul><li>Thanks to him the French soldiers ran out when they were coming to invade Spain. </li></ul>
  30. 30. MANRESANA TOWER <ul><li>The Manresana tower was created in the eleventh century. </li></ul><ul><li>It is 11 metres high. </li></ul><ul><li>It has a circular wall. </li></ul><ul><li>It is a monument in Prats de Rei. </li></ul>
  31. 31. HIGH ANOIA CHICKPEA <ul><li>A typical product of the Anoia are chickpeas. </li></ul><ul><li>The chickpeas are grown in high Anoia: Castellfollit de Riubregós, Calaf, Veciana, Sant Martí sesgueioles, Prats de Rei, Calonge de Segarra i Sant Pere de Sallavinera. </li></ul>

CONCLUSIONS <ul><li>The region of Anoia has changed in a few years from being a county of secondary sector to being a region of tertiary sector. </li></ul><ul><li>In the region of Anoia there is a very varied vegetation. </li></ul><ul><li>Igualada is the capital and it is one of the sites who has the more important things. </li></ul><ul><li>We have enjoyed ourselves and now we Know the place where we live much better. </li></ul>
