Geography of Catalonia Anoia county is in the centre of Catalonia, near Montserrat mountain. Montserrat mountain is the only natural park of this region.

Anoia map The Anoia region has an area of 866.28 km ². The capital of the Anoia is Igualada.
White pine One of the principal species of trees in the region is the white pine. The name of this pine comes from the color of its bark. In the white pine the cones make an angle of 45 degrees with the branch.
Evergreen Oak The leaves are everlasting. The tree measures from 16 to 25 meters. The oaks are cultivated principally to obtain their fruits, the acorns.
Rosmarin The rosemarin is a woody shrub of everlasting leaves that can measure 2 meters of height. The leaves, small and very abundant, present a line shape. The flowers are of approximately 5 mm of length. Its natural habitat is the Mediterranean one.
Thyme Thyme is a everlasting plant, of wood, which lives in poor soils of dry regions. Its leaves are tiny and smell aromatic essences. The Egyptians used this grass in the embalming process. The Greeks used it in their baths and burned it as incense in their temples. It is used as a medicinal plant.

La Tossa The church of Santa Maria of La Tossa is a building which was constructed during the first Romanesque period of the Xth century. This church is placed in the top of the mountain of The Tossa de Montbui.
L ’Abric Romaní The Abric Romaní is the first archaeological site of the Middle Paleolithic that is known in Catalonia. The recovered remains (mainly fireplaces) belonged to prehistoric groups (Neandertals). Every summer a group of archeologists excavate a bit more .
Paper mill museum (Capellades) This museum was a former mill where they made paper from the XVIIth century. They took chunks of clothes, crushed them, left them in soaking and finally made the paper. The mill gave force to the turbines to make them turn. Nowadays they still make paper but in small quantities.
La Torre de Claramunt castle The castle of la Torre de Claramunt is in the center of the town of the same name, next to the town hall and a small church. It was designed as an advanced fortification of Claramunt's castle. During the 17th century it was replaced by a great mansion.
Santa Maria de Rubió church The Church of Santa Maria de Rubió is placed in the village of Rubió, at the foot of Rubió's castle. The church has exercised the parochial functions from his origins in the 11th century up to nowadays. The current building was constructed between 1275 and 1300, replacing a previous church that is mentioned in medieval documents from 1082.

Meanwhile, we put the mushrooms in a spoon, in order to remove the water. 4. When the onion has been fused, we incorporate the tomato and throw it to the casserole. 5. Primary sector Nowadays there aren ’t many people working in the primary sector in the Anoia county.
Secondary sector One of the most important industrial activities in Igualada is the leather industry.

Verdaguer Avenue It is a place where it is possible to walk calmly. This way goes from the old railway station up to the new station.
Sant Crist Asylum This asylum was constructed approximately 70 years ago. It was constructed by the architect Joan Rubió Bellver.
Cal Font square It is a square placed in the center of Igualada where you can go to buy, walk and take a drink.
