  8. 9. Some rules of the game. <ul><li>THE EQUIPMENT - The football players mustn’t wear a helmet. They must wear football boots, a team shirt, shorts, socks and shin pads. </li></ul><ul><li>THE OFFSIDE - A player can´t be nearer the opposing team’s goal than the second last opponent and the ball. </li></ul><ul><li>THE KICKS - The game has to start with a kick-off. The player that kicks the ball on a free kick can’t touch it until another player touches it. The referee gives a penalty kick when a defensive player fouls or commits handball inside the penalty area. </li></ul><ul><li>HANDBALL - The football players can´t touch the ball with their hands. They can kick it with their feet; head it or make a chest trap. </li></ul><ul><li>FOULS AND MISCONDUCT - The player can´t kick or push his opponent. A “foul” happens when the player wants to get the ball and he kicks or pushes his opponent accidentally. “Misconduct” occurs when the player kicks or pushes his opponent intentionally. The referee penalizes the player showing him a red or yellow card and the opposing team has to take a penalty or a free kick. </li></ul>
