    4. 4. Why Facebook? • It is undeniably the largest social network, so obviously has the largest potential audience. • Facebook can help you drive a significant amount of traffic to your website, create a loyal community and build a profitable brand. • Once you have created a page, you can create adverts that are highly targeted to your audience. • Facebook provides insights so you can learn which posts are most engaging to your audience - latest figures show that 93% of the most engaging posts on Facebook were photos.
    5. 5. Facebook - Pages • Complete all sections – about, contact details, company details, milestones • DO use a cover photo. • Don’t be tempted to pay for fans. • Insights are there for a reason. Use them.
    6. 6. Facebook - Ads Standard Ads • Highly targeted ads (There are 440 30-45 year old university graduate men, in a relationship within 25 miles of Canterbury that have a strong interest in beauty products). • Fairly quick to set up. • Relatively cheap to run. 7. 7. Why Twitter • It is a short message communication tool that you can use to send messages out to followers, otherwise known as microblogging. • Knowing what to talk about on Twitter is different for every business, you need to find the balance between what your target audience want to hear and things that promote your business. • Most users are very active and will engage with content.
    8. 8. Twitter - Management • Time management • Schedule tweets • URL Shortening • Cut out “noise” through the use of tabs/lists • Multiple profile management & multiple social networks • Multiple users • Reports

    10. 10. Why Google+ • Despite being the second biggest, Google+ is the least well known and most misunderstood of the social networks. • It is really important for your business because it integrates with Google and carries significant weight in terms of SEO and organic search visibility.
    11. 11. Google+ Authorship 1. Content is attributed to original author. 2. More search engine result page real estate space -> Higher CTR. 3. Improves page ranking within Google.
    12. 12. Google+ Authorship 1. Sign up for a Google+ account. 2. Verify your email address. 3. Link from Google+ profile to your content under the “Contributor to” section. 4. Link from your content to your Google+ profile and adding ?rel=author after the URL to your profile (https://plus.google.com/106481202653655000610?rel=author) 5. Done. For WordPress sites use Fanciest Author Box (other plugins available).
    13. 13. Why LinkedIn • You should create a LinkedIn profile for yourself and a company page, this will increase credibility and allow more interaction with other LinkedIn members. • LinkedIn are now also using advertising in the form of sponsored updates which anyone can now use, previously it was only available to advertisers. They appear in a member’s news feed much like Facebook, and look just like normal posts so are not intrusive.
    14. 14. LinkedIn – Top Tips 1. Think about your goals. What are you trying to achieve. Your goals should drive your entire presence.
    15. 15. LinkedIn – Top Tips 2. USE A PICTURE
    16. 16. LinkedIn – Top Tips 3. Complete all sections on your profile – Including the summary
    17. 17. LinkedIn – Top Tips 4. Connect with care. It’s not a popularity contest.
    18. 18. LinkedIn – Top Tips 5. Join & participate in groups
    19. 19. Social Media • You do not need to be on all social networks. • Pick the ones that your target audience are most likely to use/achieve your goals through. • If you are spending longer on social media than your “actual work” you are not doing it right. • Social media is a long term strategy. It won’t make you the next Mark Zuckerberg overnight.
