Data Model (SPOTS V10 Drop 4) 1 Preface This manual defines the SPOTS V10.0 data model for traffic analysis, providing a complete reference for all the model entities used by SPOTS for the management of telecommunications network equipment on all supported "technology domains". In the subsequent sections of this document, lists of "entities" (object classes, measurements, counters etc.) are provided in order to model the telecommunications networks monitored by SPOTS and their PM data. The following kinds of entities are covered: • Object classes & measurements, • Reference variables, • Counter lists per measurement, • Virtual counters, • Counter units, • External Database views. The object classes are grouped according to the different "technology domains" (refer to Section 1). For each domain, one figure (showing the class containment tree) and one table (listing the class names and the associated identification attributes, which follow a hierarchical identification scheme according to the object's containment) are shown. Some object classes are common to several technology domains (namely, the class "EXCHOC", which models a "Core" Network Element, is common to all Core Network technology domains, except the VAS platforms domain). Data Model (SPOTS V10 Drop 4) Siemens S.A. 2.2 Object classes, measurements and node versions This section specifies the measurements provided by SPOTS to monitor the network entities modelled by the object classes presented in the previous section. For each supported object class, the provided measurements are listed. For each measurement, 2 measurement names are presented: the SPOTS name and the measurement name from the network node point of view (designated in this document as "Siemens measurement name") - the "Siemens measurements" are specified in references [03] to [17]. In the core network, Siemens measurements names can have diverse meanings depending on the source of the data: a REC job name (for CP platform NEs), a Q3 scanner name (for MP platform NEs) or a SNMP MIB name (for SP platform NEs). REC job names are presented in uppercase and MIB names in italic. Scanner names are presented in normal font, omitting "CurrentData" suffixes. The correspondence between Siemens measurements and SPOTS measurements is not always one-to-one. A Siemens measurement may be split into several SPOTS measurements; in this case, for each concerned SPOTS measurement, the Siemens measurement name is presented, followed by a short text between parenthesis indicating which part of the Siemens measurement is concerned by the SPOTS measurement in question. Also, several Siemens measurements may be grouped into a single SPOTS measurement; in this case all the relevant Siemens measurement names are listed. The SPOTS measurement results from the union of all counters contained in the listed Siemens measurements. In certain cases, aggregation algorithms are performed on the Siemens measurement counters in order to provide the values of the SPOTS measurement counters (e.g. aggregate the values of a handover measurement for all adjacencies of a given cell). In this case, a note is inserted after the Siemens measurement name, explaining the performed computation. For these aggregations, the counter type must be considered - refer to the introductory text in Section 2.7. The list of Network Node (NE) versions that support each SPOTS measurement is indicated in the subsequent sections. 2.2.1 SPOTS Node Version Designations SPOTS Node Versions (e.g. BR70, UMR30, SR90, CS20) and Siemens Network Releases (e.g. BR7.0, UMR3.0, SR9.0, CS2.0 ) have usually an intuitive one to one correspondence (e.g. BR7.0 -> BR70, UMR3.0 -> UMR30, SR9.0 -> SR90, CS2.0 -> CS20). Its PBH (Peak Busy Hour) will be used as the representative daily interval for the computation of historical data - see Section 1.6.2 in [01] for more information on historical data. In the following, all SPOTS reference variables are listed. One table is presented for each "technology domain" considered in Section 2.1. The reference variable for a given measurement (Meas) of a given object class (OC) consists of a counter (RefVarCount) which may be a "raw" counter or a "pre-defined" (also called "base") virtual counter (see Section 2.5.1.1). The following situations are possible: • RefVarCount belongs to a measurement of a "parent" class of OC. In this case, when computing the value of the reference variable for an instance (Inst) of OC, the value of RefVarCount is evaluated on the parent instance of Inst; • RefVarCount belongs to Meas itself, or another measurement of the same class (OC): In this case, when computing the value of the reference variable for Inst, the value of RefVarCount is evaluated on Inst itself; • RefVarCount belongs to a measurement of a "child" class of OC. In this case, when computing the value of the reference variable for Inst, the value of RefVarCount is evaluated as an aggregated value for all child instances of Inst. This aggregation is denoted in the "Reference Variable" column by a "%" sign at the end. For some measurements, historical data are not supported, since these data were found not to be relevant for traffic analysis - in this case, a "dash" ("-") is placed in the "Reference Variable" column.
