How To Deal With Fingernail Problems
Your probably have noticed your fingernails grow faster than your toenails. But did you notice the
middle finger nail (your “driving finger”) grows fastest and the poor little pinky is the
most sluggish? Also your nails grow a little faster on your dominant hand. It's generally accepted
that fingernails grow three millimeters a month and toenails a glacially slow one millimeter. So it
may take a full year for a toenail to regain its normal shiny appearance after dropping something on
it. One great way to quickly grow beautiful nails is to become pregnant. But 18 years of biting them
in anxiety unfortunately follows. What Your Fingernails Can Say About Your Health
When nails grow into the skin instead of straight, an ingrown nail occurs. This painful toenail and
fingernail disorder is most often caused by an injury to the nail — someone steps on your foot
or you stub your toe — or from wearing shoes that don't fit properly. But nail disorders such as
a nail fungus can also trigger an ingrown nail. Ask your doctor if you can attempt to treat an
ingrown nail yourself; a severely ingrown nail may require antibiotics to prevent an infection or
minor surgery to remove some or all of the ingrown nail.
This can be described as a deep line of depression on the
nail plate crossing the fingernail horizontally. Beau's lines
are formed as a result of sudden disruption in the process
of cell division in the nail matrix. This can be caused due to
some infection in the fingernails, skin disease or any
underlying disease like diabetes. Other possible causes of
beau's lines in children are malnutrition, low calcium levels
in blood, blockage in blood vessels, side effects of some
drugs or some kind of injury in the fingernails. It can happen to children of any age group. It can be
found even in newborn babies. If these lines are formed in all the fingernails of an infant, then the
cause of this problem is likely to be some intrauterine distress.
Remember to look to see if there are ridges on more
than one finger and if the ridges are on the same
finger of each hand, then go to the top of the page and
see which organs are associated with the ridges. That
will help in ruling in or out what the cause is.
Personally, I just muscle-test it out to see which issues
to address and use this as a piece of the entire puzzle.
If you have ridges on all your nails, your intestines are
not effectively assimilating the foods you are eating.
For these cases, I get them on the ionic or colloidal
minerals right away. We need all the help we can
get for that and these are the best, most easily
digested vitamins and minerals on the market.

Dogs that repeatedly rub against furniture or continually lick and chew their coat may be suffering
from a skin disorder. There are several types of dog skin problems that have some symptoms in
common. Bald spots, swelling or scaly areas may indicate a disease. Other symptoms are lesions,
rashes, redness, scabs or drainage. Any one, or a combination of these, should be checked by a
veterinarian.
Even temporary malnutrition could weaken your nails and flaw their appearance for months. Healthy
nails show parallel ridges running along the length of the nail. Deep horizontal flaws called Beau's
lines form because of an interruption in nail nourishment. If you don't eat enough food or if your
food lacks any single vitamin, nail growth slows. Returning to a proper diet restores growth to
normal, leaving a horizontal groove in your nail. Protein Deficiency
If that is the case, you will want to review the yeast handout. One product I use often is Myrrh gum
powder capsules for yeast infections. It's one of those herbs that works for the greater portion of the
population. You will need to have the dose figured out for you (usually 1-3 capsules/day) and you
should take it for several months to kill the yeast from the inside out. This way the nail fungus will
be gone permanently. Myrrh is not a good choice for children, but it's the most common yeast
treatment that comes up for adults in my practice. Fingernail Analysis–The Lunulae
Although vertical ridges in fingernails is normally an age-related problem, occurrence of horizontal
ridges cannot be overlooked and doctors consider it as a symptom of serious illness. People with
horizontal ridges in fingernails, also experience a change in nail color, which is an indication of
respiratory diseases, diabetes, kidney disorders or heart problems People who have suffered from
arsenic poisoning may also develop horizontal ridges in fingernails.

One of the relatively rarer causes of this condition is the yellow nail syndrome. This is a condition
where there are multiple complications, like pleural effusion, lymphedema, and yellow-dystrophic
nails. A little less than half the cases will also complain of bronchiectasis. It often also shows
symptoms like chronic sinusitis and persistent cough. The nails are yellow in color and lack the
cuticle, grow slowly and are loose, or sometimes, they even get detached. This condition is known as
onycholysis. It is not certain as to what leads to the yellowish discoloration of the nails.
A recent study found that hospital nurses with artificial nails had twice as much bacteria on their
hands than those nurses who had natural nails. The area around and underneath the fingernails is
one of the easiest places for germs to collect. The best way to prevent this is to thoroughly wash
your hands for at least 15 seconds using antiseptic soap under hot water. Make sure you wash the
area underneath the nail and around the cuticle area. Use a clean towel to dry your hands. Use
disposable towels if they are available.
