Our coalition was one of the 14 counties in Kansas who received grant funds from the Kansas Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant in 2008. This presentation depicts a few of our successes since implementation began in 2008.

  2. 2. This campaign educates those 21 and older who can legally purchase alcohol of the dangersand consequences of providing alcohol to minors. Youth encouraged parents, and adults tosign the Pledge to not provide alcohol, tobacco or other drugs to teens on their property.
  3. 3. One of our many successes…Establishing 4 new SADD Chapters in Nemaha County. We now have 5 activeSADD Chapters. One SADD officer from each organization is also a member of ourcounty-side Student Leadership Council Board. This board meets one to two timesper year to schedule our youth activities.
  4. 4. Toss Out Bad Choices We got our youth involved and decorated a float for the Sabetha Rodeo Parade.We passed out information the Not In Our House Campaign. This was our big “Kick Off” event.
  5. 5. Our SADD Chaptersset up booths at home basketball,wrestling activities and worked veryhard at getting adults to Pledge tobe a safe house.
  6. 6. The SADD Chapters competedwith the other local SADDchapterstrying to see which chaptercould get the most pledges.
  7. 7. Sabetha SADD has been our championthe past two years in getting pledges!
  8. 8. More parents feelit is wrong toprovidealcohol to teens.
  9. 9. 19 youth and 4 adults attended the conference. Youth were able to network with youth from other SADD chapters and brought back good ideas for their chapter activities.

Just a few stats…•In 2008, 34.1% of Nemaha County youth in 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th gradereported drinking alcohol in the past 30 days.•In 2012, 23.56% of Nemaha County youth in 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th gradereported drinking alcohol in the past 30 days.•More adults of youth in these grades feel it is wrong for youth tobe drinking alcohol.
