• The usual CUC conferences provide an umbrella for a range of diverse presentations and workshops and additional workshops and event s are organized in conjunction with the annual conference.
 • These themes for understanding what spiritual leadership is emerged from recent conversations with UU leaders. The Symposium will be an opportunity to explore more fully what spiritual leadership is and how it is and can be practiced within our congregations and our movement.
 • The design will include an opening keynote presentation There will be lots of opportunities for structured conversations. We anticipate using a range of participatory methods such as open space, world café , small group discussions, art and music, etc.
 • Culture of leadership also includes: Identifying the impetus that will attract and excite members to take on leadership roles and understanding these roles as a spiritual practice (Feb 2011 board meeting) Aspiring to guide congregations towards becoming agents of transformation
 • We hope to begin the dialogue about Spiritual Leadership ahead of time through regional gatherings, face-to-face conversations and through the internet and CanU We invite you to talk with people in your own congregations and to your congregational leaders (ministers and lay leaders) about the Symposium Leading up to the Symposium, we invite you to organize opportunities for dialogue and conversations within your congregation about what spiritual leadership means to you

If I can help those who already share certain beliefs and dreams sing their song a little clearer, a little more confidently, I know they will take that song back to their networks….We gain courage from learning we’re part of a choir. We sing better when we know we’re not alone.”

- Margaret Wheatley
