<ul><li>“ Do you want to ride a boda boda?” </li></ul><ul><li>mmm….yes? </li></ul>
<ul><li>“ Do you like working in development?” </li></ul><ul><li>Yes? </li></ul>
<ul><li>“ Your supervisor is sick, we don’t know  </li></ul><ul><li>what you can do here, but do you still  </li></ul><ul>...
<ul><li>“ Do you want to live in a village on a mountain  </li></ul><ul><li>and do action research for an orphan project? ...
<ul><li>“ Actually, you’ve become more like  </li></ul><ul><li>a project manager?” </li></ul><ul><li>I guess yes… </li></ul>

  13. 13. <ul><li>Seeing the northern lights and midnight sun </li></ul><ul><li>The Norwegians becoming really friendly as the sun came out </li></ul><ul><li>Milking cows and making cheese on the Swiss Alps </li></ul><ul><li>Going into Kampala City the first time </li></ul><ul><li>The city when riots happened </li></ul><ul><li>The wonderful smiles of the children </li></ul><ul><li>Following two journalists doing a story on the Rwandan genocide </li></ul>
  14. 14. <ul><li>Being on my first safari, rafting the Nile </li></ul><ul><li>The board members thanking me, receiving gifts (live chicken!) </li></ul><ul><li>The children being proud of the project </li></ul><ul><li>Dancing at an initiation ceremony </li></ul><ul><li>Why do you come here instead of helping your own people? </li></ul><ul><li>The sinking feeling when we left the slum area to go back to our safe hostel </li></ul><ul><li>Living with a Tanzania family </li></ul>

  16. 16. <ul><li>I’d rather spend my time working like this more than any other way. </li></ul><ul><li>I’d rather take chances than sit on my hands. </li></ul><ul><li>I’d rather live life like a tourist. </li></ul><ul><li>I’d rather suck up the hard stuff than miss out the fun stuff. </li></ul>
