    1. 1. Ongoing CommunityProcess for Ontologies A Discussion Outline W3C HCLS Scientific Discourse Task 28 February 2011
    2. 2. Main Issues• Multiple work products • SWAN-SIOC (done) • AO, CiTO+SWAN, ORB, DeXI (ongoing)• Need to complete SIG Notes process• How do we support ontology evolution?
    3. 3. Why?• Because these are not fixed for all time• Environment is in motion around us• New use cases require extension• New ontologies require adaptation
    4. 4. ORB• SIG Note complete• Need full HCLS discussion & approval
    5. 5. AO• Lots of interest in AO and AF • > 80 AF alpha users• Need SIG Note with multiple contributions
    6. 6. CiTO-FaBIO• SIG Note? recommended
    7. 7. DeXI• Met w/Yolanda Gil last week • will align closely with Provenance Model• Need volunteers for OWL completion• Need volunteers for SIG Note prep
    8. 8. Community Process• W3C process good for getting out specs• Need to provide for agile evolution • new use cases, “next rev”,...• Open to any / all suggestions!
