The Learning cultureMonitoring progressThis is recorded in our student grade reports 6 times a year insecondaryWe grade effort and academic level.Our final annual reports are based on end of year examinationresults and the 6 reports.The Head teacher and Head of each learning phase reviewprogress at each report and reward effort and provide additionalsupport for those who are facing a challenge.We do not use any other criteria.
The Learning cultureYear 11 and 6thformThese years also take external examinations.GCSE and A levelThe Spanish department base their decisions on the 6 reportsand the final exam. The Head teacher is responsible foracademic results but considers the advice of the DirectoraTechnical and the Spanish DepartmentThe results of the each student who wishes to gain the Spanishterminal qualifications or Spanish University entry are sent tothe Spanish Education Department by the Head teacher
Assessment of learning at AISOur purpose is:to discover how well our students haveprogressed academicallyand for our teachers to understand what theyneed to do to enable every student to makeacademic progress and achieve their potentialHow we do itWe use a combination of Summative ( end of yeartests) and formative (on going check points attheir students the end of learning units)Each subject area will decide the most effectivemethod of gathering data
Assessment at AISSummative AssessmentIn order to achieve an overall picture of ourstudents performance teachers will draw onThe results of the 5 grade reports, End of yearexaminations and the achievement of Qualifications.Year 11 students have the opportunity to take GCSEexaminations and 6thform take AS & A levelStudents have the opportunity to study for Spanishqualifications which are based on teacherassessment + 4 GCSE passes and university entryqualificationsOur students also have the opportunity to takeSpanish at GCSE and A level
