  2. 2. Task At Hand <ul><li>A web application is required. </li></ul><ul><li>This web-app should be able to serve the dual funtion of a website and a world class online digital library. </li></ul>

Overview of the requirements <ul><li>The digital library will contain a wide range of catalogue of electronic books with digital rights. </li></ul><ul><li>The digital library will be accessible via the internet. </li></ul><ul><li>The digital library will be accessible using any modern day smart phone, PDAs, laptops, and desktop computers. </li></ul>

Overview of the requirements <ul><li>The digital library will contain books that can be read, but not easily downloaded. </li></ul><ul><li>The digital library will contain users in different categories. </li></ul><ul><li>A certain category of user will be able to download the books. </li></ul><ul><li>The digital library will contain social tools, which users can use for online relationships. </li></ul><ul><li>Contributing authors will have avenues to sell their books and publications. </li></ul><ul><li>The digital platform will have a backend module for managing online publications, the website itself, the users, the authors, managing sales of publications. </li></ul>

Proposed Features <ul><li>Authentication : Including using existing common email providers e.g. gmail </li></ul><ul><li>Registered users should be able to add to the online library. </li></ul><ul><li>Depending on the publication, download may be restricted until after payment. </li></ul><ul><li>Individual users and authors will have their own profile pages , and mail boxes . </li></ul><ul><li>Authors will have their own blogs . </li></ul><ul><li>Any registerd user can read books online . </li></ul><ul><li>Any registered user can start or join discussion forums . </li></ul><ul><li>Social Additions: comments on books , Discussion forums, discussion on an authors profile. </li></ul><ul><li>All registered users will be able to add other users as their friends online; and there after share books , suggest books or engage in discussions. </li></ul><ul><li>A ccess to other world wide wide libraries e.g. Havard and Yale can be included </li></ul><ul><li>F riend finder online once logged on. (connects with your email account, or facebook acct). </li></ul>

Proposed Features <ul><li>Registered users can upload books which on confirmation by the admin. </li></ul><ul><li>Users can add certain books their online account . </li></ul><ul><li>A ccount grades (free, silver, bronze, gold, diamond) </li></ul><ul><li>Users can create reading groups , foster a solid reading culture </li></ul><ul><li>Book recommendation section </li></ul><ul><li>B ook reviews section </li></ul><ul><li>List of all the authors on a separate authors ’ page </li></ul><ul><li>Site news section/ announcements </li></ul><ul><li>Search capability : For people, blogs. </li></ul><ul><li>Users can r ate readers and authors </li></ul><ul><li>Awards section for readers </li></ul>
