How The Grinch Stole Christmas(2)

 1. 1. How the Grinch Stole Christmas By Darryll Lucas
 2. 2.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas ; a fictional story, was written in 1957 by Dr. Seuss.

The plot of the story is the Grinch who lives on top of Mount Crumpett in the town of Whoville; didn't like how cheery and happy the citizens of Who-ville were especially on Christmas. So in an effort to stop them from being so cheery; he decided to steal their Christmas by stealing their presents, but when he realized that no matter what he does he can't stop them from being happy and joyous. He then has a change of heart and decides to give back the presents to the citizens of Whoville and then he becomes accepted into the town.

 3. 3.

The characters of the story are the Grinch who is the main character and the anti-hero. As the main character he is the focus of the story and as the anti-hero he is not only the villain who steals from the Whos but also the hero who gives them back what he stole.

The other character, Cindy Lou Who, is the secondary character. She was one of the reasons that the Grinch decided to change his ways.

The setting of the story is a fictional, snow-clad town called Whoville, that is inhabited by cheerful beings called Whos. the story takes place during Christmas that is an important holiday to the Whos.

 4. 4. The Conflict of the story is man vs self. The Grinch had to struggle with his feelings between doing the bad thing or doing the right thing when it came to stealing all the who's presents This story had many themes, but the one that stood out to me was there is very little you could do when trying to change other people, and you would be better of changing yourself.
 5. 5.

In my opinion How the Grinch stole Christmas is an amazing book because its so simple but it is very entertaining and has a very powerful message in it.

My teacher wanted us to watch the movie based on the book to learn about points of view. She listed this story because it was near the holidays, and this movie is usually watched around that time.

 6. 6.

Dr. Seuss is a well know author and very popular amongst many adults and even young children of today. His stories were entertaining and easy to read. He successfully sold over 222 million copies, and been translated into more than 15 languages. Also many of his stories have been made into t.v. shows, t.v specials, plays, animated movies, and live- action movies.
