Group Meetings (YITC1001 only) <ul><li>Cover the Theory Part </li></ul><ul><li>Each group of around 7 students </li></ul><ul><li>Promotes self-learning </li></ul><ul><ul><li>NO NOTES provided, students are expected to search for information themselves </li></ul></ul><ul><li>3 meetings, once every 2 weeks, </li></ul><ul><ul><li>From late September to mid-November </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Each meeting lasts 2 hours </li></ul>

Resource Sessions <ul><li>Cover the Practical Part </li></ul><ul><li>3 sessions, 1 hour each: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>PowerPoint </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Excel </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Web Publishing </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Word and SPSS are self-study parts </li></ul><ul><li>Notes are provided in the FIT System, but students are required to study some parts before attending </li></ul><ul><li>Multiple timeslots from Oct to Nov for each session </li></ul><ul><li>Reservation through the FIT System two weeks in advance </li></ul>

Library Practical Sessions <ul><li>Cover the Library Part </li></ul><ul><li>4 sessions, 1 hour each: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Find items on a reading list </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Find books on a topic </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Find journal articles on a topic </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Top ten library resources </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Notes provided </li></ul><ul><li>Multiple timeslots in Oct and Nov for each session </li></ul><ul><li>Reservation through the FIT System two weeks in advance </li></ul>

Assessment <ul><li>An assignment to show that you know those practical skills </li></ul><ul><li>More details will be given during the first group meeting . </li></ul>YITC1001 YITC1002 Continuous Assessment Group Meeting (Theory Part) 15% One 2-hour test (All parts) 100% Group project (Practical & Library Part) 25% One 2-hour test (All Parts) 60%

Assessment <ul><li>Passing Criteria </li></ul><ul><ul><li>YITC1001 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>At least 50% in continuous assessment, AND </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>At least 50% in the test </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Note: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>If a student fails the test, he/she can take a supplementary test in a specific date after the deadline. However, even if he/she passes the supplementary test, the highest course grade will be C. </li></ul></ul>

Similarly, students who do not take the test in this semester will have only one attempt when they re-take next time. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Students who fail the test will be required to attend at least half of Resource Sessions and Library Practical Sessions if they re-take YITC1002 later. </li></ul></ul>
