9. 9. Hypertext Project Sample
Components:
1. Summary of the story in your own words
2. Analysis using “Exploring Digital Books” (p. 116 of Peterson)
3. List of options available within the book and/or on loading screens
4. Is this a worthwhile digital book for the classroom?
10. 10. Hypertext Project Sample
Story: Pricilla
1. Summary of the story in your own words
Pricilla is a book about a place called Barely There and some of the people who live there. Pricilla Parsnip is the main character, and she is either a beaver or a bear. It’s hard to tell from the illustrations which type of animal she is. The story talks about Pricilla’s house, a flood, a storm and various activities in Barely There. (Your summary should be about 2 paragraphs long)
11. 11. Hypertext Project Sample
Story: Pricilla
2. Analysis using “Exploring Digital Books” (p. 116 of Peterson)
“Exploring digital books” talks about multicultural literature and shares ways to see if a digital book is a good fit for a classroom that won’t offend others. This story uses animals as characters, so it doesn’t address race or nationality. I think…. (Your analysis should start similar to this – in YOUR OWN WORDS and then discuss what you think of your story: Is it suitable for children of all backgrounds? Will it be appreciated by all students?)
12. 12. Hypertext Project Sample
Story: Pricilla
3. List of options available within the book and/or on loading screens
Pricilla is a very lengthy picture book. The options available are “Listen,” “Next Page,” and “Last Page.” I thought that “Last Page” meant it would go to the last page of the story, but instead it takes you to the previous page. The website should use different language to make this more clear. The listen feature allows the reader to hear the story aloud… (You should write a couple paragraphs about the features and what you think of them.)
13. 13. Hypertext Project Sample
Story: Pricilla
4. Is this a worthwhile digital book for the classroom?
I don’t think Pricilla is a good classroom story because it is very long and the page is very small. Even on a projector it might not be big enough for all students to read… (This should be the longest part of your paper. Tell me why your chosen book is good or bad for your classroom.)
14. 14. Class Project…
First: The inspiration http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ukcWulbKeg
And Next: The Cameras…
And Finally: The Play Doh
