Parental Control Presentation

  1. 1. Setting Parent Controls on a MacBook <ul><li>Provided by the KIS Administration team. </li></ul>
  2. 2. <ul><li>Go to the the Apple icon in the top left-hand corner of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear with System Preferences on it. Click on System Preferences. </li></ul>
  3. 3. System Preferences <ul><li>Go to System Preferences. It is the Control Panel of a MacBook. </li></ul><ul><li>Find it by clicking on the Apple in the top Left corner of your desktop. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Parental Control Window <ul><li>Once you click on Parental Control, it will bring you to this window. </li></ul><ul><li>Click on the lock in the bottom left corner of the screen. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Password Prompt <ul><li>The computer will prompt you for the administrator name and password. </li></ul><ul><li>Enter them and click on OK. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Turn on Parental Control <ul><li>Click on the user and it will highlight the name. </li></ul><ul><li>Then click on Enable Parental Controls. </li></ul><ul><li>You can also choose to manage from another computer. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Options Main Page <ul><li>From here you can choose which options you want to change. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Time Limit Options <ul><li>Time Limits allows you to set hours for computer use or to set a total number of hours the computer can be used in one day. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Content Options <ul><li>Content allows you to limit the websites that can be visited by your child. </li></ul><ul><li>Please be careful, because your child needs to access many websites for school. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Logs <ul><li>Logs allows you to check what web sites, programs, or iChat your child has been accessing. </li></ul>
  11. 11. Locking Changes <ul><li>Once you have set the controls as you wish, click on system and return to this window. </li></ul><ul><li>Then click on the lock in the left corner again. </li></ul>
  12. 12. Finishing <ul><li>You will be brought back to this window and you are finished. </li></ul>
