  2. 2. Preparation The members of the family clean the house. Everyone puts their new clothes, while children play around the decorated Christmas tree, waiting for the presents.
  3. 3. The person who finds the coin in their piece is expected to have good fortune in the next year . Christmas Eve Dishes T here should be seven or more (always an odd number) vegetarian meals, with each dish symbolizing the household’s hopes for luck, health and happiness . The most common dish on the Christmas Eve dinner table is the round loaf with a coin. The eldest person breaks the bread into pieces.

It is believed that this will bring luck and make people’s hopes a reality. When the meal is over the table is not cleared until the following morning Christmas Eve Fire
  6. 6. Carols Singers In some villages a t midnight on Christmas Eve carollers start their rounds, visiting all the houses of their neighbours . Boys and m en wear traditional costumes and sing songs for wealth and health for the hosts and the household, for which they are rewarded with money and foods, later given to charity .
  7. 7. Cornel decorated patting stick A favorite custom for the children is patting with a specially prepared stick of cornel decorated with wool, cotton balls and strings of popcorn . It takes place on 1 st January. C hildren pat their relatives and family friends, wishing them health, wealth, happiness and all the best. The person patted should give the child some small coins, as a way of “buying” success and luck for the coming year.
