“LET’S PROTECT THEM”
It is the state of Florida’s Department of Children and families
mission: “To protect the vulnerable, promote strong and
economically self – sufficient family recovery, and sesiliecy”
Adoption and Safe Families Act
The Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997 aligns with the guided
principles of the Florida Department of Children and Families but
states that if a family has allegations of abuse or neglect, as it
pertains to a child, then the child can be removed their biological
family and relocated to another household such as, adoption
and/or foster care (http://Laws.com). Even the child protective
services of California even state the same, as it pertain to removing
a child from an abusive environment and placed into a protective
environment such as an adoptive and/or foster care
In some cases, families may receive in-home services. In-Home
services provides the family the assistance that they need in order to
keep the child safely within the home. If the family receives
assistance, then there is a possibility that abuse and neglect will be
prevented (Rubin, 2011).
In other cases, families may receive Out-of-Home Services. These
services are provided when it has been legally decided to remove
the child from the home is for the safety of the child (Rubin, 2011).
