Utdanning.no <ul><li>The website is mainly a metadata portal, where the key services that we offer are: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>A national centralised repository with Course descriptions of “all” educations in Norway (course description metadata). CDM </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>A national centralised repository over learning object metadata. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>A framework for learning content publishing (new!). </li></ul></ul>

Licensing use case <ul><li>Utdanning.no offer a publishing framework for external editorial groups. </li></ul><ul><li>The editorial board consist mainly of teachers. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>8-10 teachers per group/subject. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Their ambition is to make the content so comprehensive that it could replace the traditional book. </li></ul><ul><li>The content is partly produced by teachers and partly bought from publishing companies. </li></ul>

Licensing use case <ul><li>All content produced by the editorial board (of teachers) as well as from other teachers is licensed under creative commons. </li></ul><ul><li>Getting permission from teacher to use CC licence has been easy. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Most publishing companies don’t want to use CC licenses. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li> Most content licensed under CC, but not everything. </li></ul></ul>

Licensing use case <ul><li>Many resources are created from content with a CC or GNU license. </li></ul><ul><li> Support all versions of CC and GNU. </li></ul><ul><li>Content may be re-constructed of sub-content that have different licenses. </li></ul><ul><li> All media objects must be tagged with individual licenses. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Licensing use case <ul><li>The common teacher/student are not familiar with the CC/GNU license rules. </li></ul><ul><li>They understand the CC license description. </li></ul><ul><li>The GNU license text is harder to understand. </li></ul>
