  2. 2. Facebook Setting Up Your Business (or “Fan”) Page Example Created: “Rafi’s Place”
  3. 4. Quick Steps <ul><li>Go to: www.facebook.com (make sure you are “logged out”) </li></ul><ul><li>Click “Create a page for a celebrity, brand or business” </li></ul>

Setting Up Your Business Page <ul><li>In drop down menu choose : </li></ul><ul><li>Click “local” </li></ul><ul><li>Restaurant or Hotel (we suggest creating 2 separate Facebook pages if you have 2 establishments) </li></ul><ul><li>Fill out “name of place” </li></ul><ul><li>Leave “make page publicly visible” blank (do not click this) </li></ul><ul><li>“ Create page” </li></ul>

Create A Facebook Account <ul><li>Choose “I do not have a Facebook account” </li></ul><ul><li>Email: we suggest creating a gmail account. </li></ul><ul><li>Password: create this and store in a safe place </li></ul><ul><li>Fill out D.O.B. of administrator </li></ul><ul><li>Fill out Spam/security check </li></ul>
  6. 10. Confirm Your Account <ul><li>You will be sent a link similar to this: </li></ul><ul><li>You recently registered for Facebook. To complete your Facebook registration, follow this link: http://www.facebook.com/c.php?code=732365891&email=mediakit%40jblotneradvertising.com </li></ul><ul><li>Click on the link </li></ul><ul><li>Your page has been created </li></ul>

Creating Content On Your Page <ul><li>Link Your Twitter Account to your FB page (if you don’t have one, I will be assisting in getting this set up for your company in the next few weeks) </li></ul><ul><li>Download Hotel or restaurant logo or picture of facility </li></ul><ul><li>“ Edit page” fill out relevant information </li></ul><ul><li>“ Create an Ad” (See further instructions) </li></ul><ul><li>Promote with a fan box: fill in </li></ul><ul><li>“ Write something ”: quick overview of establishment </li></ul><ul><li>Tabs: add more: (“Links”, “Events”) </li></ul>

Content: Facebook Page Should Contain: <ul><li>More Pages </li></ul><ul><li>Home Page: Logo, pictures, contact info, web site, Hotels promotional sites </li></ul><ul><li>Wall Page : post messages with fans, Add comments with hotel linking sites, post current promotions in the hotels restaurants. </li></ul><ul><li>Info Page : web sites, blog, twitter and all contact info. Overview of Restaurant (if apply) </li></ul><ul><li>Photos Page: . Create at least one photo album for your hotel. For a small hotel, one album should be sufficient. Highlight hotel interior, pool, spa, meeting rooms, wedding facilities etc. Include “Fan” (guest) photos. </li></ul><ul><li>Box Page : Discussions, Links (Hotels booking sites). </li></ul><ul><li>Notes Page : Reviews from guests, directions to the hotel, and miscellaneous info. </li></ul><ul><li>Events Page Promote area location and sites. Grand opening, wine tasting at restaurants, etc. Promote your destination’s activities. </li></ul><ul><li>Discussions Page : Discussions are a good way to get participation and engage travelers and potential guests. You can create a discussion about your destination of interest to travelers. Draw attention to special events and happenings in the area. Often times, these discussion get picked up on the internet. </li></ul>

Purpose Of Facebook <ul><li>Keeps current customers and new customers aware of your hotel or restaurant’s existence, rates, and special events. </li></ul><ul><li>Continues to brand name </li></ul><ul><li>Gives customers an opportunity to “publicly” refer your establishment </li></ul><ul><li>Continues to drive traffic to your web site or blog. </li></ul><ul><li>Expands your audience and extends customer base </li></ul><ul><li>Contributes to high SEO (search engine optimization) results </li></ul><ul><li>Shows an approachable side of your hotel or restaurant </li></ul>

Building Your Fan Base <ul><li>Send email to current customers (or list) via email, newsletter, and existing social media (Twitter, Blog) </li></ul><ul><li>Post and display everywhere , “Become a Fan on Facebook” </li></ul><ul><li>Create incentives for satisfied customers to “recruit” new friends to your page (see promotions section) </li></ul>

Promotional Idea #1: Building Fans <ul><li>Everyone who becomes a fan of the Hotel receives a discount for their next stay or will receive a free appetizer (or discount) in the Hotel or restaurant. </li></ul><ul><li>PS Get their email. Tell them you will email them the gift certificate. You now have a new email and contact for your hotel database. </li></ul>
  15. 26. Promotional idea #2 <ul><li>Encourage your customers, employees to becomes fans of your hotel or restaurant. Create contests or offer discounts to reward them for referring more fans to your page. </li></ul>
