ELIE WIESEL<br /> He was Born as an Orthodox jew on Sept.30,1928 . He grew up in Sighet, Romania. His parents Shlomo and Sarah. He had 3 sisters ,Bea, Hilda and Tsiporah.<br /><ul><li>His world revolved family, religious study, community, and God.
He survived the concentration camps with his sisters but their father died.</li></li></ul><li><ul><li>He earned the Nobel Peace Prize ,the Prix Medics, was awarded the Congressional gold medal of achievement, appointed to chair the Presidents on the Holocaust. He established his own humanitarian foundation to explore the problems of hatred and ethnic conflicts. Wiesel has received numerous awards and approximately 75 honorary doctorates.</li></li></ul><li><ul><li>He became a Professor of Judiac studies at the City University of New York.
Most of his books were about the sufferings of the Jews during World War II.

Night Summary</li></ul>In 1944, the German soldiers occupied Sighet . The Germans forced the Jews to wear yellow stars and they raided their houses . The Jews were brought to Aushchwitz where he and his father were sent to be slave laborers. They were then brought to Buna where they endured beatings , hunger and other torture for 8 months. There he was stripped of his name and became identified as A-7713.<br />
After 8 months 20,000 inmates were forced on a death march for ten days . They were only 6,000 left when they were sent to Buchenwald . Upon arrival , his father died. As the end of the war approached,the guards told the prisoners that they won’t be fed anymore, and began evacuating the camp.<br />
The next morning an underground movement rose from within the camp and attacked the SS guards. Later that night , the first American units arrived and liberated the camp.<br />
