    3. 3. Our Children are Depending on Us to Find a Solution<br />Clearly stopping state cuts to the education budget and restoring lost funds is the most prudent and immediate solution. However that solution is not within our immediate grasp. We must find and alternate method of supplementing the Education budget while the state recovers from its fiscal issues!<br />
    4. 4. Our Children are Depending on Us to Find a Solution<br />Our children know what is happening in their school so they have offered some creative ways to help us through the current Fiscal challenges we face!<br />

We are not alone in this problem<br />School Systems Nationwide are Facing Unprecedented Financial Challenges<br />School leaders:<br />understand that the situation will not change soon.<br />know the solution must be long term and lasting.<br />know the solution must be a legacy for our children’s education to<br /> ensure that they will not suffer through another economic crisis!!<br />The SUSD 1852 Foundation<br />Our efforts are in line with other districts and state agencies across the country. These public school foundations provide supplemental financial support <br />for their school districts and their educators.<br />
    8. 8. Meeting the Challenge: The SUSD 1852 Foundation<br />The Superintendent has put forth a multi-level vision to deal with the financial challenges facing our children. He has made it clear that the children come first and that our primary efforts must be focused on their education and their future. It is his hope that the 1852 benefits not only the children of SUSD but the community of Stockton as a whole.<br />

The SUSD 1852 Foundation<br />was created in 2002 to enhance the educational opportunities of District students and to support District events<br />is a non-profit public benefit corporation with By-Laws that govern its operation and purpose<br />The 1852 Foundation bylaws the 1852 governing Board is made up of 15 members serving three year terms. These members are appointed by the SUSD School Board. The By-Laws mandate that two members are the SUSD Board president and Superintendent <br />donations are tax deductible<br />

The SUSD 1852 Foundation<br />.<br />Mission and Purpose<br />“The SUSD 1852 Foundation was created<br />to provide scholarships to needy students<br />provide students with special needs with <br />clothing, eyewear, hearing aids and other<br />prosthetic devices and to support the <br />educational needs of our students by <br />providing them with the financial support<br />necessary to eliminate any barriers to <br />their educational success that SUSD <br />cannot currently fund under <br />its current budget challenges.”<br />California State School Budget<br />
