Canadian Curling Champion Cathy King, who was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame last
year, shared stories of her life as a professional curler as well as displayed her Hall of Fame award. She
also threw the first rock during a floor-curling contest at Touchmark’s Sochi Olympic Games. Alberta
Floor Curling Association President Audrey Connery officiated, and Touchmark residents Laurel and
Horst David served as coaches. Global News and CTV covered the event. Watch the event calendar for

2. Enjoying a tropical touch during winter
Even with cold
temperatures outside, the
warmth and fun soared
inside with entertainment
by the ukulele band The
Hawaiian Treasures. Mary
Lee, a bungalow resident
who is part of the group,
and the other performers presented a show of singing, dancing, and even a mini grammar lesson on Hawaiian
words. This was their first visit to Touchmark, and everyone is already looking forward to their return. A
Hawaiian buffet dinner followed the entertainment.

assortment of sandwiches, fruit, and cookies along with a glass of

the Clown’s recent visits to
Touchmark’s Health Services
Neighbourhood and shared some
of her inspirational story. Happy
is pictured with resident Edith
Mould.
Happy (Tracy Merry-Thomson),
who has multiple sclerosis,
loves bringing joy to others.
She recently started the Laps of
Laughter Project, making and
inspiring others to make blankets
that give warmth and “hugs” to
those in wheelchairs.

During the monthly Men’s Beers of the World Club, the guys
sampled a variety of lagers and ales, ranging from Scotland to
Mexico.
