The Problem <ul><li>The ‘cultural quarter’ of Bristol, is renowned for it’s Banksy artwork ‘the mild mild west’ above the canteen diner and the Croft bar also renowned as one of the top bars in Bristol. </li></ul><ul><li>And when Tesco announced that a new store was to be opened on Cheltenham Road, opponents came out in force. </li></ul><ul><li>Thinking that the new Tesco would create a lack of business opportunities the public acted </li></ul>

The Riots <ul><li>Protesters started the campaign by camping outside the shop as soon as the store opened. </li></ul><ul><li>Good Friday saw the façade of the shop, which opened in mid April, completely destroyed following running battles between protestors and police around the border between Stokes Croft and Montpelier </li></ul>
  4. 4. What were the possible benefits? <ul><li>The possible benefits of the Tesco being a part of the Stokes Croft area is that many jobs would have been created which local businesses may not have </li></ul><ul><li>The goods sold at the tesco store may have been cheaper than those of the local businesses </li></ul>
