Risk Assessment <ul><li>In all cases, clear instructions will be given: </li></ul><ul><li>Students will be expected to follow normal code of conduct </li></ul><ul><li>When under remote supervision, students must walk around in groups of between 3 and 5 </li></ul><ul><li>Crossing roads will be monitored by staff (unless under remote supervision), although students will be expected to use their own road safety initiative </li></ul><ul><li>On coach, students must wear seat belts </li></ul>
  15. 15. <ul><li>At airports, students are to remain with staff at all times unless otherwise instructed </li></ul><ul><li>In Iceland, students will be frequently reminded that traffic is on opposite side of road to that in England </li></ul><ul><li>On arrival the accommodation will be checked by our staff and the emergency exits pointed out to students </li></ul><ul><li>Downtime activities will be supervised by school staff with appropriate behaviour expected; all activities will take place on the accommodation premises </li></ul>
  16. 16. <ul><li>Students will be advised not to enter another student’s room without permission </li></ul><ul><li>Under no circumstances should boys go into girls rooms and vice versa </li></ul><ul><li>In Reykjavik, students will be given all Education Visit mobile phone numbers, which will be left with school staff at all times </li></ul><ul><li>At least one member of staff will be at a known rendezvous point </li></ul><ul><li>As before, under remote supervision students must be in groups of between 3 and 5 </li></ul>
  17. 17. <ul><li>Rayburn Tours will be responsible for delivering all non-downtime activities and we will follow their rules regarding Health and Safety </li></ul><ul><li>Risk Assessments will be reviewed on a daily basis and students will be notified of any changes in advance of any relevant activities undertaken </li></ul>

Luggage and Restrictions <ul><li>Hand luggage: </li></ul><ul><li>Max size 55x35x25cm </li></ul><ul><li>Max weight limit of 10kg </li></ul><ul><li>No sharp items (scissors, nail clippers, bottle openers, razor blades etc) </li></ul><ul><li>Any drinks or liquid foods must be stored in containers no larger than 100ml </li></ul><ul><li>Drinks already opened must be consumed or discarded before Security checkpoint </li></ul><ul><li>Once through Security checkpoint, new food and drink can be purchased and consumed or taken onto the airline </li></ul>
  19. 19. <ul><li>Cosmetics and toiletries must be stored in containers smaller than 100ml </li></ul><ul><li>Liquid medicines also cannot exceed 100ml maximum </li></ul><ul><li>All liquids must be stored in a transparent, re-sealable bag 20x20cm – one per passenger </li></ul><ul><li>Inhalers are allowed in hand luggage, but spare canisters must be packed in hold luggage </li></ul><ul><li>If in doubt, bring prescription or letter from GP as proof </li></ul>
  20. 20. <ul><li>Hold (main) luggage: </li></ul><ul><li>max weight limit of 20kg </li></ul><ul><li>Anything over 100ml or sharp must be packed in hold luggage </li></ul>

Expectations <ul><li>All students will be expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times </li></ul><ul><li>Taking and participating in the use of alcohol and/or cigarettes is strictly prohibited </li></ul><ul><li>Taking and carrying dangerous items, such as knives are prohibited </li></ul><ul><li>Should a member of the party place either him or herself or other members of the group at risk, staff reserve the right to remove the individual from any remaining activities and if necessary, make arrangements for that individual to return home. This will be at the family’s expense </li></ul>
  22. 22. Last-minute details <ul><li>If still needing to obtain the European Health Insurance Card, it can be ordered over the Internet but will take up to 7 days to arrive. The cost is £9.95. Visit </li></ul><ul><li>Note: the forthcoming postal dispute may affect delivery times </li></ul><ul><li>Low cost airline Iceland Express does not provide any in-flight catering, although light refreshments can be purchased </li></ul><ul><li>Therefore either bring a packed lunch (remembering restrictions on liquids) or purchase food/drink once through Security checkpoint </li></ul>
  23. 23. <ul><li>On outward journey (Friday 23 rd October) swim wear, spare towel and any toiletries required (stored in containers less than 100ml in size) need to be packed in hand luggage – we cannot access main luggage until we reach our accommodation later that evening </li></ul><ul><li>Whilst travelling to/from Iceland, we recommend wearing walking/sturdy shoes and heavier/thicker outer jacket or layers </li></ul><ul><li>helps keep hold luggage under 20kg </li></ul><ul><li>weather on arrival may be cold (below freezing) and/or wet </li></ul>
