1. Everybody loves animals but not everyone knows how to treat them. Animal abuse is very
common today and people do very little to stop it. They don’t think animals are as important as people.
Animal abuse can be stopped through education, community involvement, and stricter laws.
The reason why people mistreat animals is because they don’t the proper way to treat them.
Sometimes the laws aren’t strict enough to the people that mistreat animals. If they take more it more
serious and show them that animals shouldn’t be treated wrong. The most common animal abuse is
dogfighting; dogfighting is when people get two dogs to fight each other most of the time until death it
is illegal because your abusing them and because its for money. The most common dogs that dogfight
are pit bulls some people don’t fight them and but still consider them a threat especially to children. Like
famous football player Michael Vick some people don’t think how they treated him was a little harsh,
like Eagles coach. “Michael is a very nice guy,” the Eagles coach said Monday. “He tries to please
everybody and do the best he can. Those are great redeeming qualities to have. But you have to be
careful the situations you put yourself in “. (Mark). While he got everything back those animals are still
hurting. At the same time it affected the animals and him, he almost lost his career and money. The
animals he abused had permanent damage to them and they will never be the same and neither will his
career. You just don’t have to physically hurt an animal to be abusing it. You can mentally hurt it. The
ways you can hurt an animal is to not give it enough attention and don’t play with it enough it’s not
illegal but it doesn’t mean you should be allowed to do it. People should at least take a little time off and
spend time with their pets. And to learn how to treat animals you can ask professionals that are good at
taking care and have experience with animals. Sometimes the laws aren’t strict enough on certain
people and they just let them get away with it. The highest time you can get for dogfighting is up to 7
years and depends on how bad is you might even get more time. People should learn about laws of
dogfighting maybe even go to classes to learn about animals so that you can learn about it. Communities
should come together and stop animal abuse they can do things like have fundraisers for animal shelter

2. and maybe even adopt them to a family that you know will care for them and treat them right. Even for
a few hours a week holding and petting animals at a shelter makes their chance of being adopted by
making them more people friendly. Not only just fundraisers can help if you are a writer, offer to help
write the newsletter or lend your design skills to their website and advertisements. You can also post
videos up on the internet so that you can send the message out to people they will actually feel and see
what they go through and they will want them to help too. You can get the message out about how
important animal abuse is through so many ways and as people we should
