Determined For Prayer

  2. 2. Session Six OBJECTIVES ! Offer recommendations and resources for getting to prayer. ! Provide biblical reasons to persevere in prayer.

  4. 4. What now? 1. Pray for help in prayer. 2. Read/study Scripture. 3. Learn theology. 4. Do something hard. 5. Read books, and especially biographies, about prayers/pray-ers.
  5. 5. What now? 6. Make a prayer LIST. A list helps: (1) Weakness (2) Comprehensiveness (3) Thankfulness
  6. 6. “If we do not pray for our own circle, who will? But if that is the farthest reach of our prayers, we become parochial, introverted. Our prayers may be an index of how small and self-centered our world is.” ~ D.A. Carson
  7. 7. What now? 6. Make a prayer LIST. (1) something for my soul (2) something for my wife, kids, and family (3) a few one28 staff By day of (4) a class of students the week: (5) one (or more) church elders (6) one (or more) of our sick (7) one (or more) of our missionaries (8) one (or more) government persons (cf. 1 Tim 2:1-2) (9) an upcoming event/ministry opportunity
  8. 8. What now? 7. Keep a prayer journal. 8. Go for a prayer walk. 9. Pray with others.
