1975- Convention on Registration of Objects Launched
into Outer Space (“Registration Convention”)
1979- Agreement Governing the Activities of States on the
Moon and Other Celestial Bodies (“Moon Treaty”)
6. The Outer Space Treaty
Signed in January of 1967 and entered into force in October
1967
No nuclear weapons or other WMD’s can be placed in orbit
around Earth, installed on the Earth’s moon, or any other
celestial bodies
The utilization of the Moon and other celestial bodies are to
be peaceful and forbids weapon testing or military training to
be done on the Moon
Free exploration is allowed to benefit all nation-states
No nation-state is to claim the Moon as a resource
Avoid contamination of outer space and celestial bodies
