Stillwaters - 2011

 1. 1. Hope, Compassion and Support for Cancer Patients and their Families Stillwaters Cancer Support Services December 2010
 2. 2. The 2007 Institute of Medicine’s report titled “Cancer Care for the Whole Patient” states:

Cancer care today often provides state-of-the-science biomedical treatment, but fails to address the psychological and social (psychosocial) problems associated with the illness.

This failure can compromise the effectiveness of health care and thereby adversely affect the health of cancer patients.

All patients with cancer and their families should expect and receive cancer care that ensures the provision of appropriate psychosocial health services. Throughout southeastern Wisconsin, Stillwaters Cancer Support Services is the only source for no-cost, professional counseling and support for cancer patients, families, survivors and caregivers.

The agency nurtures, supports and encourages healing of the whole person - mind, body and spirit .
